2012 TVB Anniversary Gala

TVB held its 45th Anniversary Gala celebration on November 19. TVB Honorary Chairman, 105-year-old Sir Run Run Shaw (邵逸夫), lit the lighting ceremony. The gala was criticized to be a bit boring by Apple Daily, with the laughs mostly coming from the many cross-dressed male artists.

Kate Tsui (徐子珊), Michael Tse (謝天華), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Sharon Chan (陳敏之), and Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) opened the festivities, dancing away in glittering garb. Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) and Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) performed songs together while linking arms. Ruco was forced to sit on JJ Jia’s (賈曉晨) lap in one of the game segments.

Known for their curvaceous figures, Shirley Yeung (楊思琦), Toby Chan (陳庭欣), Samantha Ko (高海寧) wore plunging gowns that displayed their cleavage. Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) and Eliza Sam (岑麗香) both wore pink ruffled gowns while toning down their sex appeal for the evening.

“The Confidant” and “Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles” Spoofs

Anniversary series, The Confidant <大太監> and Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族> were parodied with a brand new cast. Nancy Sit (薛家燕), Kiki Sheung (商天娥), Sharon Chan (陳敏芝) and Kristal Tin (田蕊妮) dressed as eunuchs while planting a banana joke.

Nat Chan (陳百祥) and his wives, Moses Chan (陳豪), Roger Kwok (郭晉安), Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), and Michael Tse (謝天華) parodied the seduction and lip-locking headlines that Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles generated since its broadcast. Nat finally became overwhelmed by his wives draping themselves over him.

Eric Tsang Bares Chest

In the hilarious “Star Nursery Institute” segment, Eric Tsang (曾志偉) crossed-dressed as a nanny taking care of super-sized infant, Moses Chan (陳豪). Eric unbuttoned his shirt and revealed his massive chest, while feeding King Kong (金剛) rice with his own lips! Eric threw a cake at Moses’ face, while Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) quickly wiped Moses mouth.

Louis Yuen (阮兆祥) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) also dressed as nurse helpers in bra tops in the segment. Bosco Wong wore a cone-shaped bustier inspired by Madonna’s iconic wardrobe.

Upside Down Ladies

The Anniversary Gala is also known for its adrenaline rushing physical stunts. This year’s gala had Kate Tsui, Christine Kuo, Eliza Sam, Mandy Wong (黃智雯), Samantha Ko (高海寧), and Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) dressed in skin-tight bodysuits while propelled mid-air in their “Goddesses Love the Web” segment.

With the acrobatic stunts influenced by Cirque du Soleil, Kate showed her flexibility and performed straddle split while hanging upside down to the audience’s thunderous applause.  Since Rebecca suffered a painful back injury during practice, she attempted a less demanding move.

Liu Wai Hung Makes Appearance

One of the gala’s highlights was the appearance of veteran actor, Liu Wai Hung (廖偉雄). Beloved for his comedy roles and crazy antics in variety shows, Liu Wai Hung was especially invited by the “Three Gods” Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), Johnson Li (李思捷), and Louis Yuen (阮兆祥) to attend. “Although he is busy with business matters in mainland China, he still came. We’re very moved,” Cho Lam said.

Wayne Lai, Raymond Lam, and Liza Wang Receive Cash Gifts

TVB has been known to give out incredible prizes to its artists during the Anniversary gala, such as condo apartments and cars. Wayne Lai turned out to be the big winner for the night, winning  $1 million HKD in cash and prizes! Wayne said, “I have never won the grand prize although I’ve been at TVB for many years! TVB is wonderful! I hope that its ratings will continue to climb!”

Raymond Lam (林峰) won a $50,000 HKD cash prize in a raffle drawing, which is his first cash prize winning despite being in TVB for more than a decade.

Known for her loyal fan following, Liza Wang (汪明荃) revealed that a fan from the United States sent her a generous lucky packet of $2,000 USD. The gift was mailed to TVB City to Liza’s attention. Liza revealed that she met the elderly fan before during a stage performance.

    1. Can somebody tell me why tvb still 45th anniversary while last year 2011 already celebrate 45th

      1. Because the number 4 (死) is consider unlucky. Since it is 44 means double 死.
My flat also don’t have number 4, they change it to 3A.

  1. It’s not about the Awards,it will be on Dec/17 . This is TVB Anniversary (45 years}, very nice show!!

  2. what has sir run run shaw been feeding on? i need to start eating what he’s eating to live to 105

      1. HK artists can only wish they can create something viral that’s remotely close to Gungnam.

  3. I find the way Eric Tsang treated Gam Gong is really overboard. Threw the food with his spit into Gam Gong mouth omg. And Gam Gong actually swallowed it. Makes me want to puke. -.-

    1. Eric Tsang is senior management now. He can do anything to any girls or even guys and no one would dare say anything.

    2. Really? That fat bastard! Gam Gong should’ve kicked his lame ass. Too bad he had to think abt his rice bowl.

He is a fat coward for sure picking on ppl he knows can’t fight back. He should try to do that to Liza Wang, 620 etc.

Acting almighty in TVB and like a dead dog infront of ppl like Jackie Chan or Albert Yeung, LOL.

      1. Kam gong is famous since joined Eric tsang, I blif he is willingly to *play by him and in return all attention fall on him, instead of Moses. No pain no gain

      2. Eric Tsang give King Kong many jobs and opportunities under his wing. King Kong won’t complain.

      3. No doubt King Kong got money and fame because of Eric but to subject oneself to such humiliation is really pathetic. No difference from a prostitute selling her body for money. I detest Eric Tsang’s antics but I despise King Kong for knowingly allowing himself to be publicly humiliated. Really, was there a need to eat the rice Eric spat out?!?

      4. And spare a thought for King Kong’s poor parents who may be watching their son go through such acts. It’s not even for art or entertainment! How would Eric like it if his daughter is treated similarly in the Taiwanese entertainment circle?

      5. Undoubtedly Eric’s Tsang’s antics are gross and King Kong should not sell out like that for fame. However, what about Moses Chan? He’s one of the highest level siu sangs but must be humiliated every year. How he can live with it, is beyond me.

    3. Yes I thought what Eric Tsang did was in bad taste too! And there wasn’t even any entertainment value in those acts!

      1. Absolutely agree. I never liked Eric Tsang, his acting or his productions.

  4. The last skip whete jerry lamb came out as a pregnant ying ying in her evening gown was hilarious! Thats the part if tye gala that i always look forward too… Hahah.

    1. jerry lamb is funny….eric tsang is annoying….bernice liu’s fans are excited to see moses get tortured.

  5. That male parkour segment was an embarrassment. Seriously that was just sad.

  6. I guess Kate Tsui will be the TV Queen for this year, seem like all major performance in on her…reli spoilt my mood of watching the comin awards ceremony.

    1. I don’t want Kate Tsui to be TV Queen this year. I like Kate, but, I agree with those who said she did not act well in the drug addiction part.

    2. I agree. I think TVB might make Kate win. Kate has her solo feature part in this anniversary. I don’t see Tavia or Michelle anywhere.

      1. Tavia is apparently out b/c of her leg injury and Michelle is in Europe with the rest of the Triumph in the Skies II cast. While Kate’s prominence in the Gala could increase her chances (TVB after all), there are reasons why her competitors are not present that have little to do with TVB politics.

      2. Just because Kate was prominent at TVB gala, that doesn’t dubb her as TVQueen lmao.

Fox- yeah, Michelle’s a guest star.

      1. sorry she attend but she fracture her leg that y she did not make any appearance..

    3. I hope Kate will win if Michelle Yim doesn’t. Although Kate isn’t the best, at least she wasn’t plain and she improved, not stay the same or go downhill.

      1. But you were so against KM win over LF when seniority is the main reason for LF to win? why kate should win first before TY gets it? Just asking.

      2. I don’t think Kate will win, but I want her win if Michelle can’t win, what is the matter? I don’t think MM will win as well, but I don’t want him to win, what is the matter, too?

      3. Btw, seniority isn’t the main reason I think LF should win :P. I judge acting of LF higher than MM, is it a matter to you?

      4. You are not, 939393? Lolz, it’s funny to know that you think you are not.

  7. i hate how the draws are so fake. they are always able to get the stars to win.

    1. You mustn’t have paid very good attention to the beginning, because they clearly said only the participating artistes’ names were on the wall.

  8. Obviously the prize rigged so that no one is leaving, properly to keep Wayne Lai happy, and Raymond Lam.

    1. Everything Raymond Lam gets must be rigged. C’mon. You really think HKD50,000 Ang Pau can keep him if he wants
      to leave???

    2. So whatever Raymond wins is rigged? It’s becoming really unfair to say that Raymond does not deserve anything and that whatever given to him is not through hardwork but through executives and management because he is their so called “biological son” .. Well i don’t see it.

  9. “Eric threw a cake at Moses’ face, while Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) quickly wiped Moses mouth”

Do you really need to show their so called personal reflection to the public??!!

    1. Aimee and Moses coupleship gets good treatment and focus in the show. Moses also sits on Aimee’s lap.

      1. Probably it was TVB’s suggestion to show their close and intimate relationship.

  10. Eric Tsang never had class…maybe there’s hope in 2013…maybe not 🙁

  11. The most boring TVB anniversary gala imo. The oni part that could make me laugh for a while is the Silver spoon and Sterling shackles spoof. The rest was just lame. I was expecting something funny from Johnson, Louis and Cho Lam but it turn out otherwise. Even the skit at the end was a total bore. Eric being like an ass like always and what the hell is Louis, Cho Lam and Bosco thinking? The tubes and cone bra is not even close to funny it’s an eye sore!

    1. I thought Bosco finally decide to dress and be normal in the 3 piece suit and appearing with Kevin, Michael and Ben but the cone bra appearance was one heck of a devastation! Louis and Cho Lam look disgusting in their tube tops. They should stop acting like ugly transvestites.

    2. Yes the SSSS spoof was the only interesting item in the entire show. And even in the spoof, Wayne’s acting was great!

      1. Because TVB out of idea they use the chance to put Aimee and Moses as main item. Eric Tsang abusing people and transvestite Fuk Luk Sau are lame.

  12. My comments as posted earlier at my blog but edited;

Just finished watching TVB’s 45th Anniversary Gala and my feeling is they probably allocated more budget for the upcoming TVB awards because the gala felt flat. It was more like a introduction show of their line up of actors rather than celebrating TVB. I do like watching the line ups, getting to see these new young up and coming stars and sharing the stage with the veterans who were given some emphasis. I also like how some great ones were remembered, like Lydia Shum whose presence is sorely missed. No Anniversary Gala will ever be the same without her. I also love how Ah Chan (Liu Wai Hung) dropped by to say hi. He looks the same, only older. He is now a businessman but I hope maybe one day he might feel like coming back to TVB. It was great to see the EYT reunion, most of them still there and thriving. However the tribute felt poorly planned and would have been better if they were all properly honoured in the TVB award show rather than in the Anniversary Gala, such as Lydia and the gang, with Joyce up there to say a word of thanks that TVB remember their pillar of strength that was Lydia Shum. It felt inappropriate, not enough. Do the award shows only belong to the young and living?

As for the sketches, Kate Tsui and gang did an interesting yoga-pole dance style rope acrobatics and whilst most were just posers, some like Kate and another I do not know her name were very flexible. Sammy Shum, Stefan Wong and gang were kinda ok and energetic in some street dance ala pakour and free running I think. Most were just running and Stefan looked tired but Sammy was energetic, he could dance. Out of the screen I don’t really like him much but I do like Sammy when he is on screen. He is good looking, a decent actor but a very charismatic personality, on screen. The dubbing sketch was not funny except for the guys and Wayne Lai is a comedic genius. But seriously, it felt… flat.

The main sketch was the nursery theme and done in poor taste even of the actors tried hard. Poor Moses Chan always got the “being tortured” part every year and I applaud his personality. I didn’t enjoy the sketch where basically they threw liquid or powder stuff onto the poor tortured actors’ faces, one King Kong and the other Moses. But I do like how Aimee saw she had to rub wasabi paste onto Moses’ lips and she exclaimed “It is wasabi!!” and she quickly threw the paste onto the floor! And next Eric tried to dump talcum powder onto Moses’ face already filled with other powdery stuff and she smilingly snatched the bottle from a mildly surprised Eric and gently dab a little onto Moses’ thighs. You can see she takes very good care of him. I am beginning to like Aimee more and more. Whatever you may say about the authencity of their relationship, if she was acting out her feelings for her, she is doing one very fine job.

There was a singing segment and TVB is darn cheap. Why not get proper singers, some of whom are emceeing that night? But Susannah Kwan did come out to duet with Raymond Wong who turned out to be the best male singer that night. I like how excited he looked. He isn’t bored with the TVB machine yet. Actresses also sang, like Linda who sang breathily, and badly. But none worse than Selena Li who can’t act much and definitely can’t sing. They all look pretty and I suppose that is their function. Eliza was super perky and Christine Kuo looked like she was suffering. The most at ease was the one with the body, Samantha Ko and I like her bright personality.

Kevin Cheng was there and did he recycle his award suit to this show? Anyway he seems so much at ease, like he was really happy to be there. I swear after BBJX, he seems so much at ease at such functions. There were many others there but they didn’t do anything but just show up. Like Raymond Lan, looking trim and handsome and just showing up. I suppose they are all gearing up for the TVB awards show. Because the entire show felt underwhelming, poorly planned, no budget and half hearted.

Now the most awkward moment was the Triumph In The Skies cast in.. where were they? Some European country, I can’t remember. Anyway Fala was giving her megawatt smile and she was supposed to choose a number to reveal to the audiences and she was delaying a little for some reason and Francis Ng just snatched it away and gave it to Myolie to reveal, something about let the true winning actress choose or something like that. You have got to give it to Francis Ng to behave that way and get away with it. I just remembered Fala continued to smile, but a bit strained and Myolie looked awkward. Don’t believe me? Watch that part, the 2nd number revealed I think.

At the beginning TVB announced they invested like millions into HD production. Really? Because I don’t see any HD production on screen, still blurry as hell whilst China has already made full use of the HD production. So where did the money go?

Anyway the weirdest moment had to be King Kong as host. Seriously, Wong Cho Lam is there, LET HIM BE THE HOST! Why ask the guy with the worst Cantonese to be the host? Which is why King Kong did not participate in those rules explaining moment. And when the moment where he should be the one doing the announcement in mandarin, that went to Liza Wang. Weird weird weird!

What a lame show. It has its moments but inappropriately so. I really hope the award show will spend some time honouring the veterans, those still there and those who are dead. But if the nomination list is correct, some fans like myself may feel it is a bit of a joke. How can anyone overlook Rebecca Chan for Best Supporting Actress in Bottled Passion? As I have said from day 1 since there is such a thing as TVB award; it is TVB’s way of giving out bonuses and retaining people. It is not based on merits. Some winners did win and happened to be appropriate winners because there are some performances you can’t ignore. But mostly it is not BEST whatever, it is MOST FAVOURITE whatever. I posted about this before here back in 11th November 2009!! I see that nothing has changed. I mean I have posted so many times about the awards and shows here at the Archived Blog, which you can just use the search function and type in “TVB Award” and the list is there. Same old same old.

It is time TVB should introduce Star Search ala Singapore style but better. At least they might actually find some natural talent or those who are good enough to be cast as leads in 1st series and 2nd series and so when being nominated actually looks legit.

    1. Funn,
Thanks for the long commentary, made me feel as if I watched it. Aimee’s reaction towards Moses sounds very sweet. If Aimee were tortured by Eric Tsang in game, would Moses protect her in the same way?

Yes, Sammy Shum is a good dancer and hopefully his recent film exposure will make him into a better actor.

      1. “If Aimee were tortured by Eric Tsang in game, would Moses protect her in the same way? ”

Actually Aimee is quite a err I suppose forceful person for the right reason is the correct term. She has her own opinion. Would Moses protect her? I don’t think so, he wouldn’t do so in such a open way. IN his own way I see him as quite err spineless (BUT NO OFFENSE INTENDED!!).

      2. I do like Sammy Shum. I think he will look good in a wuxia series.

By the way to those who watched this show who is that cute girl in the bright red dress? There were quite a few girls in cute short dress but there was one given red so she was a standout.

Oh Shirley Yeung was there, smiling to save her own “popularity”. Didn’t look depressed but since she was in the line up it means she is back with TVB’s employment.

      3. Cilla Kung? ANyway very cute looking girl and obvious a standout because in red.

    2. I’m a bit surprise that you get to watch the Award Show already… Where did you see it at??

      1. E, I watched it recorded an hour later. It was shown live on ASTRO Ch311 in Malaysia.

      2. I forgot. E, it wasn’t the award show. It is not shown yet. It was the anniversary gala.

    3. Lol about the Triumph In The Skies cast, I really wonder why Francis snatched it away from Fala. Fala wasn’t delaying anything… lmao. But Francis looked kinda annoyed at the beginning when Fala was talking… haha.

      1. She wasn’t delaying, I can’t remember exact words she said but she was like hmmm and ahhhh or something and he just snatched it away and she does look a bit surprised.

      2. Some ppl needs time to rephrase their sentence before giving speech..maybe Fala is scared, dunno what to say..and Francis wanted to get this over fast so he snatched it and passed to myo.

      3. Fala doesn’t seem so… not eloquent you know? Maybe she was trying to get more on air time and to Francis, a second is a second too long? I tell you, in TITS the real diva and the only diva is Francis Ng and deservedly so!

      4. Maybe..since Fala also give me such vibe too. I think Myolie has better personality than most 1st fadan.

    4. I forgot to mention. First 10 minute intro, was that a dig at CTI?

      1. the end of the intro was obviously.

        Many people try.
        Many People imitate.
        TVB have proved they can.

      2. Well, give them the license and 45 years and I am sure CTI and the likes will say the same thing. I mean look at ATV. Doing nothing and still here.

      3. ATV just didn’t have money. CTI have tons. Money can buy all the stars and talents.

    5. Ooh, thanks for this – now I know what to look forward to. I was wondering where Liu Wai Hung went all these years… I always think of him whenever I see those eating competitions^^

I’m sort of intrigued to see the Aimee/Moses interaction. I don’t really have anything against them, just that Moses comes across as rather cowardly (and the lack of respect for his previous relationship…). I also want to see Raymond Wong sing!

    6. Anastasia – Once upon a December – (Painted Bears, painted wings, things I almost remember. And a song someone sings, once upon a December.)

The goddesses’ aka poseurs wooden and awkward moves, and pretentious posings totally spoiled this mesmerizing melody of imagined beautiful ladies waltzing/gliding lightly and gracefully on winged feet for me.

For me, the highlight is Kate Tsui. She has always been a graceful dancer but here she totally showed off her nimbleness and flexibility. Good for her. As sytycd avid fan the others’ posings were just awkward for me to watch.

Have only watched the Goddesses-in-web segment but could the cute girl in red dress be JJ Jia?

      http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1998618034

      1. Yes she is.

I think the goddess net dance is the best performance of the night. The girls did not bad at all. Some did better than others and the camera focused on them. Most boring part is the singing where the girls (Linda, Shirley, Selena, Sonija and some more I don’t rmb) can’t sing at all. Ruco, Raymond Wong and Micheal Tse sound quite weak voices to me and the highlight belongs to Susanna Kwan and Nancy Sit. The Voice guy’s performance is ok but I mostly can hear Jay Fung’s voice only. Sheldon Lo did a disappointed job. They even dun have Mag and Alfred, the most famous ones from The Voice.

      2. @Fox, I don’t have the strong nerves to listen to the singing. 🙂

      3. I haven’t seen the gala yet but I read that Kate was crying after her performance stating that she was so touched having completed the performance because the rehearsals were very tough and difficult and she had sustained some injuries as a result. From what I have read from the comments made on this site, Kate did a wonderful job during the act. Go Kate!

      4. If that, you shouldn’t watch the full show because the singing takes a lot of time.

      5. IMO at least Linda did sing better than Selena and those girls in her group and Ben Wong and those guys in his group. I couldn’t stop laughting when I was listen to them singing.

  13. They can’t get real singers this year? Letting their artists sing the whole night and not all of them can sing.

    1. TVB could have hired professional singers. They were just cheap ….. to save money.

    2. No no they got real singers standing at the side. They let their siu sangs and fa dans sing.

      1. Funn:
Sorry. I haven’t watched it yet. Perhaps I shouldn’t have made my comments.

      2. And their siu sangs and fadans sang badly. When changing from Susanna Kwan to Linda, I felt like a big hole. But Linda’s weak voice is nothing comparing to the other girls when they sang. Such weak voices.

  14. Did Jerry Lamb signed back a contract with TVB recently? Cause I remember him moving to another station a while back….I’ve been seeing him lately.

    1. I am surprised to see him too as well. It is good news though. They need some more hosts.

When Liu Wai Hung appeared for a moment I was happy because I thought he may guest star in some series. Hope dashed!

      1. Jerry Lamb has been back awhile now making appearances on game shows with Chin Ka Lok. He is probably going to be hosting soon.

    2. Yeah he was with ATV for a while but I’m glad to see him back. I find him to be pretty funny.

  15. Did anyone else notice the lip syncing when the guys and girls were singing the theme songs of old drama? Like some parts, they already put down their mikes but they are ‘still singing’. Jason looked lost like he was told just b4 the segment that he was supoos to be performing. Some parts he didnt sing too.

Maybe its bad lip syncing.. Or there is a lah in the telecast that i was watching.

    1. Obviously lip syncing. In later segments where the guys are paraded, they didn’t even bother.

  16. Yes yes! Jason looked like he was totally unprepared for his part and Francis appeared to be unbothered – he was “sleeping” for heaven’s sake during the first reveal-the-number segment and he couldn’t wait to get over the second segment when Fala rambled.

    1. I never knew they showed up with gowns. All I know is less bling this year and the hosts? Not even 1 costume change if I remember correctly. Dodo looks awful.

As for the guys I like how Kevin doesn’t even care about wearing socks and he looked like he recycled clothes or he likes the red jacket. Raymond actually looks better than in the pictures.

      1. I never understood the so called fashion of not wearing socks as I think it totally ruins the entire gentlemanly look. When it is paired with cropped pants, it makes it even worse and totally bugs me. They look great up until the knees and when I continue down and see them “sockless” it makes me go arghhhhhhhh…..

      2. Surprised that Kevin Cheng did it (NO SOCKS). Ruco Chan used to wear NO socks at big functions all the time, and he liked wearing 3/4 length pants. But I am glad that he wore a nice suit (or TUX) with socks last night. He looked so much better with SOCKS.

      3. Funn,

I checked last yr’s pics- Kevin just loves red jackets. He wore a velvet maroon suit to the gala last yr and I think he lent it to Ben Wong to wear at this yr’s gala. At the anniversary awards, he wore a brighter red velvet suit.

But u missed the most important part. His face is still beautiful- no visible scar! 🙂

      4. Wine red is currently the IT color for this season. Ben Wong is considered a popular supporting actor now and his wardrobe is most likely to be sponsored. Even the 3rd, 4th tier actress/actor had their clothes sponsored.

    2. I’m not fond of Kate and Selena’s dresses as I think it makes them look old and does nothing to show their figure. Kate shouldn’t have worn black tights with her dress as it just doesn’t look right. She should have just went without them.

      1. I dont think she would’ve done so if given a choice. both of her legs were swollen due to the grueling dance rehearsals. Her stylist should’ve chosen a longer dress for her.

  17. Points to Eliza, good save from almost slipping in those heels during her dance.

I hope Wayne winning more money than Raymond isn’t a sign that he’s going to lose Best Actor to Raymond.

  18. Christine Kuo couldn’t dance at all in the Gala. She couldn’t act in anything. She just has a body to flaunt and then try to convince people she is a good Christian girl.

    1. Agree. I saw Christine Kuo in the last year’s gala show – dancing – and she could not dance either. She was quite awkward when she was dancing.

    2. Christine Kuo seems very wooden in anything she does. She is quite stunning, but so little on screen charisma. IMO, she should try her luck at maybe modelling though she might be too stiff for that too.

      1. I think Christine Kuo is not that versatile. She may be good in modelling because she has a very pretty face.

      2. Come on…Christine Kuo cannot go into modelling either. She is too fat to be a model.

  19. There were some really embarassing moments in this show. And some wannabe entertainers were bloody annoying. Hopefully, the next time they have a better idea of fun.

  20. i watched maybe only 20 minutes of the whole thing and skipped the rest. lacklustre, very disappointing.

  21. Tavia Yeung was also absent in last year’s anniversary gala show. I think she was on a personal trip to Korea (rumour saying that she went to Korea with Him Law) last year, and she was absent again this year due to her leg injury. Poor Tavia Yeung!

  22. Can’t believe LF actually attended but didn’t do any performance. He’s “their” best selling singer and they couldn’t get him to sing over the lousy fadan/siu sang singing act?

Ruco/Linda singing 相思风雨中 was not good at all. Vincent Wong sang it in the past, together with Karen Tong and it was SO good!

    1. Yes, too bad LF didn’t perform. He could’ve sung w/ Linda but I guess no practice time. Plus Linda probably doesn’t want to hold his hand.

      1. He came back rite at the beginning of the show.

Last time Linda gave her hand to him but he was too busy with his sweat so he held her hand with… his tissue.

  23. Does Hong Kong ppl watch TVB channel for free??? If so, lucky you.

  24. To anyone who has seen the gala, can you tell me who played who in the SSSS sketch?

    I canfigure out the following

    Nat Chan – Arthur
    Roger Kwok – first wife
Wayne Lai – maybe second wife
    Moses Chan – ? 3rd wife?
    Michael Tse – ?

    1. @Kidd,

      Wayne Lai – 2nd wife
      Moses Chan – 4th wife (Tavia’s role)

  25. Couldn’t figure out wat d ladies r doing on the big black net! Kate is good but should have done something wilder it’s so lame! And the big babies were ugh, don’t find it humorous at all, fresh pairing of Linda n Ruco=yummy while Jason should be shot, his actions were dumb, mann!

I like d half naked guys doing d HK gangnam style lol

  26. Just watch the themesong section again.

The Best Duet: Linda and Ruco
Ruco’s and Linda’s voice were equally match in the volume. Neither overshadow there others. Of the 3 duet guys, Ruco sings the best. Linda’s voice, although breathy, is sweet. I like her voice more than Nancy Sit’s. Susanna is the best singer among the 3 duet groups and has the best voice, but, her voice overshadows Raymond W’s too much. I like the quality of Raymond’s voice. But, he was too soft compared to Susanna. Can’t really hear him well. That’s why they area not Best Duet to me. Nancy and Michael are average.

Good Singers in Guys Group: Ngo Ka Nin, Raymond Cho, Vincent Wong.
Ben Wong, Jason Chan, and that other guy called Ah Wai didn’t sing very well. But, Ben Wong is at least on key. Jason and Ah Wai are the worst. They sing offkey. The key does not match the music and I think tempo is also a bit off.

Good Singer in Girls Group: Becky Lee
Becky Lee is the only good singer in that group. The other girls all cannot sing. The worst is Toby Chan.

If any of you guys have a chance to watch the show again, pay attention to Becky Lee (the girl in yellow gown). She really sings well and her voice is strong.

    1. “The Best Duet: Linda and Ruco”

Disagree. Linda sounded shaky. It was Raymond Wong (who surprisingly sang well in a pre recorded session no doubt) and Susanna Kwan. I heard his quite well.

      1. Me, too. I might be one of the few who finds Linda’s voice shaky. Ruco wasn’t bad. In terms of looks, both are compatible. My favorite is Susanna and Raymond. Of course, Susanna triumphs over everyone else, but Raymond was a good surprise. Nancy and Michael were good, too. The rest were just bad, lol

    2. Agree. best duet: Ruco & Linda-
best looking couple. Linda’s singing can’t compare with Susanna who’s a pro singer for decades, but she shows improvement. Her collaboration with Ruco was sweet and harmonious.

      1. Agree. I did enjoy their part, it’s the highlight of that night. Ruco’s voice is the best amongst the tbb guys. I still enjoy their singing repeatedly at youtube.

  27. Does anyone know what’s the soundtrack used for ‘Goddesses love the web’ performance? I couldn’t recap what soundtrack it was =(
