Winnie Yeung’s Turbulent Life after Leaving TVB

Noted for her sweet smile and outstanding eyes, it was a shoe-in for Winnie Yeung (楊婉儀) to bag the 1995 Miss Hong Kong Pageant crown. The California-born beauty queen joined TVB soon after, starring in classic dramas Kindred Spirit <真情>, Gods of Honor <封神榜>, and Plain Love II <茶是故鄉濃>. Dimming out of the public eye after marrying her husband, Simon Wong (王瑞勳), Winnie would experience the most turbulent years of her life.

Partners in life and in business, the couple began establishing their footing in various business sectors, including a gaming company, travel magazine, several day care centers, and educational centers. Despite their diverse interests in different businesses, the couple faced numerous debts due to mismanagement and even led to court filings.

Their business partners hounded them for more than 10 million Hong Kong dollars, which allegedly resulted in Winnie having to mortgage her pageant crown and property in San Francisco as collateral for a loan. Ultimately unable to repay the loan, the creditor filed for the surrender of the crown and property title.

Originally renting a big home in Sai Kung with a sea view, the couple later moved their family to a smaller home as a result of their financial issues. Last year, Winnie and Simon ultimately decided to move back to San Francisco with their 15-year-old daughter, Hannah, and 13-year-old son, Jonah.

Despite their turbulent years and financial woes, the family of four continue to maintain a warm family and have proven that money does not equate to happiness. Winnie often posts on social media and shares pictures of her family. Currently, Winnie is teaching English classes to children online. After several years of financial and legal troubles, it appears that Winnie and her family are finally settling into a more stable life.

  1. Lmao, these article are clearly “click bait”. I would not call her life turbulent. She had business failures and took necessary steps to survive. She didn’t become homeless.

I agree and as celebrities or former celebrities, even if they get a scratch on their hand it makes headlines. Celebrities can experience difficulties just like the rest of us so it is not like they always live the high life.
