Yang Zi and Cheng Yi’s Fairy Romance “Agarwood Like Crumbs” Releases Trailer
Starring Yang Zi (杨紫) and Cheng Yi (成毅), Chinese xianxia romance Agarwood Like Crumbs <沉香如屑> is in the midst of filming, but has already started early promotions with the release of its mesmerizing trailer and character posters.
Agarwood Like Crumbs is adapted from a novel of the same name written by author Su Mo (蘇寞). The story follows lotus fairy Yan Dan (Yang Zi), the only descendant of an ancient tribe, Four-Leaf Scorpion. She successfully cultivates into human form, but is faced with a challenging love trial when she falls in love with celestial warrior, Lord Ying Yuan (Cheng Yi).
Their fairy-tale romance is cut short when Ying Yuan gets critically injured during a war with the demons. Yan Dan willingly sacrifices her petals and half of her heart to save him. Although recovered, he professes his love to another without remembering Yan Dan, which forces her to forget him for 800 years.
With the support of her friend Yu Mo (Zhang Rui 张睿), she lives life in peace until fatefully encountering Ying Yuan’s reincarnation Tang Zhou, a demon hunter. Fighting evil forces together, they recover lost memories of their tortuous past love. Can they find forgiveness to be together again without experiencing more pain?
With Agarwood Like Crumbs already drawing parallels to Yang Zi and Cheng Yi’s angst-filled xianxia romances Ashes of Love <香蜜沉沉烬如霜> and Love and Redemption <琉璃>, viewers have no trouble in believing another superb performance will be brought forward.
The trailer has already stolen many breaths away with Yang Zi and Cheng Yi’s charming looks and well-balanced emotions, as well as the drama’s beautiful computer graphics. Character posters are also stirring much anticipation with the alluring costume displays of both their past and present selves.

This drama has a few controversies – Jing Tian’s withdrawal from the project, Yang Zi has to helped out by filling in the leading role in the last hour, YZ’s fans angry with her management company as they believe the role has too many similarities with Ashes of Love which will not benefit in her career advancement and fans of the novel upset that they change the leading male character to Ying Yuan.
Who’s meant to be the leading male character lol
I didn’t read the novel but from what I gather, Yan Dan ends up with Yu Mo in the novel.
