Yang Zi Rumored to be Costarring with Fan Chengcheng in Idol Drama
After wrapping up filming for costume drama Love You Forever <長相思>, Chinese actress Yang Zi (楊紫) is rumored to be starring in upcoming idol drama Love 199 <199愛>, alongside Fan Bingbing’s (范冰冰) younger brother, Fan Chengcheng (范丞丞). While some fans think the pairing is refreshing, some feel Yang Zi is far more established in her acting career and thus her fame is used to promote Fan Chengcheng’s visibility further.
Additionally, Yang Zi and Fan Chengcheg’s 8-year age gap worry fans whether they would be a compatible onscreen couple. Fans feel it is also time for Yang Zi to step away from idol dramas and take more diverse projects that can challenge her acting skills.
Titled Who Do You Love at Seventeen Years Old <十七歲你喜歡誰>, the drama is a story about seven children from different families. The story spans from the time before college entrance exams, to post-graduation when they enter the working world. The romantic storyline follows the male and female leads as they navigate campus life and the work environment, with angsty moments as they experience separation and reunion.
Reported to be starring as Huang Yingzi, Yang Zi’s character is intelligent and open-minded. Her dream is to become a journalist covering wartime affairs. The character’s quick wit and sweet nature is similar to many of Yang Zi’s previous roles.
Although the news has elicited overwhelming reactions from fans, the casting remains unconfirmed for now.

Does it mean YZ is going to portray a 17yo character? I may be wrong but doubt she looks convincing as one. Just like ZLS successfully pulling off a 13yo look is such a joke if netizens or her fans are exclaiming so, based on that particular photo (maybe there is another photo more convincing).
