Alex Fong Hits Jackpot in China
Alex Fong Chung Sun (方中信) is Hong Kong’s next star to hit the jackpot in mainland China. The 51-year-old’s mainland Chinese drama Divorce Lawyers <離婚律師>, which also stars Wu Xiubo (吳秀波) and Yao Chen (姚晨), has become a ratings hit. Alex’s popularity in China skyrocketed as a result. According to various sources, Alex’s appearance fees have increased significantly since the past year and more drama offers are rolling in.
It was recently reported that Alex will join the cast of China’s upcoming blockbuster drama Half Moon Legend <半月傳> as the series’ male lead. The period drama is produced by the developers of The Legend of Zhen Huan <甄嬛傳>, one of the biggest hit dramas of 2011. Alex was reportedly hired for 300,000 RMB per episode and is estimated to pocket at least 9 million RMB for the series.
Betty Sun (孫儷), the star of The Legend of Zhen Huan, will also be starring in Half Moon Legend. Reportedly, Half Moon Legend will feature the original cast of The Legend of Zhen Huan and is expected to continue its success.
Half Moon Legend is expected to begin filming at the end of the year.

“Divorce Lawyers” was hilarious. I was laughing with tears for most of the series due tot he chemistry between Wu XiuBo and Yao Chen.
Actually, Alex’s cheater role was not that prominent or likeable. His acting is not great but he has a certain gentlemanly charisma about him that makes an impression. But definitely prefer him over Chen Jian Bin in the series with Sun Li. Chen Jian Bin’s acting is tops but somehow, he irritates me where he shouts.
And by the way, its is not “Ban Yue Zhuan”, but “Mi Yue Zhuan (芈月傳)﹐aka “The Legend of Mi Yue”.
“Mi” was the royal surname of the Chu Kingdom before the unification of China. Sun Li is playing a Chu princess who married into the Qin royal family.
Oh so it is Mi Yue Zhuan. That series is promising since the crew of Zhen Huan will make it.
Never a fan of him as I don’t like his acting.. very stiff..
