Charmaine Sheh Suffers Insomnia After Terrifying Scene in “Line Walker”

Even a seasoned veteran like Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) cannot overcome the psychological repercussions of acting.

Charmaine is currently shooting TVB action crime drama Line Walker <使徒行者>, starring alongside Michael Miu (苗僑偉), Raymond Lam (林峯), and Sharon Chan (陳敏之). Charmaine portrays Ting Siu Ka, a police undercover who joins the triads and disguises herself as the owner of a pedicure store.

She updated a status on her Weibo last night, writing, “Today, I filmed an extremely terrifying scene that is too horrible to look back at again. It had me mentally and physically exhausted and that [horrifying] feeling still hasn’t left me yet. I keep recalling it and thinking that I could have done better. The thoughts cannot stop spinning in my head. God! Insomnia again.”

Despite Charmaine’s questioning herself over whether she should have approached acting the scene in a different manner, producer Man Wai Hung (文偉鴻) assured her that she had exceeded expectations in her performance, which was “beyond the caliber of a TV Queen.”

  1. So terrifying it will be censored.

“she had exceeded expectations in her performance, which was “beyond the caliber of a TV Queen.””

    It better be good then.

I suppose actors in horror films will never get to sleep then! Anyway good way to promote the series. Now it gets me very curious.

    1. hahaha!! yea, u r right…I dun remember any tvb series would make anyone get insomnia…good promotional tactics..

I think if she’s acting in film like rigor mortis, she’s gonna go suicide…lol

      1. 100% AGREE TVB series are never scary nowadays. I think it might just used for promotional purposes. But there was a series I remember that was kinda scary not sure if it was a TVB series it had Wayne and some older actors in it had polices and a crazy girl who chopped up and made meat with it. And gave it to polices I think cid. If anyone knows what the series was call can you tell me I think it was a 1990’s series.

    1. You must be quite young. A teenager? Just curious ….. no offense!

  4. Charmaine ..you are the best ever actress. Always want to film the best. Pray hard for you so that you can overcome this trauma. Keep up the good spirit and i will always support you always.

  5. This series sounds exciting seeing that even Charmaine is affected by some of the scenes. Insomnia is one of the worst things to endure.

  6. aww, poor ah sheh, she must have put so much effort into filming 🙁 always support you sheh sheh !

  7. The moments scripts start keeping you up at night is the moment you probably need to step away from the business for a while because you are letting yourself get to into the “show.”

Although, based on the translation of the quote, I can’t tell if she is having trouble because of the scenes, or because she felt she did a terrible job acting in them. If it is the later, then she’s still fit for performance.

      1. Why “lol?” How is rape or scenes of rape even remotely humorous?

  8. It doesn’t always have to be the scene… it could just be psychological effects that she got herself into while being in character… Just saying.

  9. She looks like a vampire in the pic on the right. Is this a horror show?
