Charmaine Sheh Invited to Star in TVB Drama with Tony Leung Ka Fai

Ex-TVB actress, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), is currently in negotiations to star in an upcoming TVB television drama production with Tony Leung Ka Fai (梁家輝), Michael Miu (苗僑偉), and possibly Raymond Lam (林峯).

“We did preliminary talks,” admitted Charmaine through a phone interview. “I really want to work with Tony and Michael. However, it really depends on my schedule, but I will try my best to work around it.”

Eric Tsang (曾志偉), who is currently busy behind-the-scenes to prepare for TVB’s upcoming television drama Aerobic Girls, revealed last year that he had invited Tony Leung Ka Fai to return TVB to shoot a television drama. Although Tony had never formally starred in a TVB television series before, the four-time Hong Kong Film Award-winning actor was a graduate of TVB’s artist training class of 1981 with Andy Lau (劉德華), and had worked as a body double for Chow Yun Fat (周潤發).

According to Eric, Tony “immediately agreed” to star in the TVB drama. After achieving his fourth Best Actor win at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards earlier this month, Tony told Eric backstage, “Yes… it is finally time for me to return [to TVB].”

Michael Miu has signed on to costar alongside Tony. Raymond Lam is also said to be in final negotiations to star as well.

The modern drama, which will be produced by Chong Wai Kin (莊偉建), is slated to begin production in January 2014, and will shoot in Vietnam.

  1. Is Charmaine Sheh the only 1st lead actress in the above drama series? Who else?

    1. Father???….TVB…will probably make him her lover or something! 😛

      1. noooooooo!! 20 years difference. omg. please let him be her father, michael = big bro, raymond = little bro. LOL

  2. I feel that this would be an interesting collaboration! I tend to like TVB dramas that stars Raymond Lam and Michael Miu (:
Hopefully the script for this tvb drama will be good and hopefully the cast will be a good selection!

  3. The cast is very convincing and I would love to see Charmaine Sheh again! Hope it works out!

  4. I think that there are not many Charmaine Sheh’s fans on Jayne’s website as there are usually very few posts submitted. It does not matter as there are tons of Charmaine fans in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

    1. I honestly do believe there are more bystanders who wreck havoc on this site more than any other ones which I do not understand why. However I am guessing this site in particular still do not have a permanent login where people need to officially sign up to comment, therefore a same individual can make countless negative comments pretending to be different people.

    2. I think it has more to do with the fact that there’s less news about Charmaine now that she’s mostly filming in China.

      1. agree. less news about charmaine since she left tvb, and when she come back to hk and her news come up, most of them are negative news from hk magazines.

  5. Why did people jump into any conclusion just after watching Ep. # 1? It is a palace-setting drama series, and there are a whole bunch of characters involved. Just give the scriptwriter more time to bring out the storyline. As long as the storyline and acting are good, it will be a good drama series. It usually takes more time to bring out the storyline of an ancient drama series, especially with a palace-setting.

    1. Sorry. I posted the above message on the wrong topic. It should be posted on “Beauty at War”.

  6. Ah, I’ll have to put a dampener on things and say I’m not liking the sound of this cast. I want to watch it for Tony so I hope the writing matches up. It’d be nice if it’s some sort of black comedy, but that doesn’t seem to be one of TVB’s fortes…

  7. So we still don’t know if Tony Leung is actually confirmed? Could just be the media – or Eric Tsang – jumping the gun here.

While it’s cool and all that they are now resorting to stunt casting, TVB has much bigger problems in other areas. Like the scriptwriting and production values. And the newbies they try to promote by inserting them into high-profile shows… Will Christine be paired up with Tony? Just like that newbie who’s name I don’t recall they paired Lawrence up with in HC2? I know Lawrence isn’t Tony Leung but Christine isn’t that girl who’s name I don’t remember either! At least, I know who Christine is!

  8. Oh, just noticed they will go on location shooting in Vietnam. Let’s home TVB gives them good PAs or the next one to complain about incompetent PAs in the media is Tony Leung*

*provided it’s actually true that he agreed to shoot for TVB.

  9. I hope this is true, it will be soo cool too see charm on the same screen as Tony. Wonder what kind of relationship they will have. Crossing fingers for this to happen!

  10. Would love to see Kenix Kwok in this new serie 🙂

  11. That would be very interesting if true. It would also seem like they would need 2 more female leads since there is also Michael Miu and Raymond in the series.

    1. Love triangle is Txb’s fave.

Rebecca Zhu might join, as she is Chong’s fave.
