“Line Walker” Ending Will Depend on Audience Vote

TVB dramas received a lot of criticism for its poor endings in recent years. In some cases, alternate endings were created to please the angry viewers. The producer of Line Walker <使徒行者>, Man Wai Hung (文偉鴻),  announced that the audience can vote for the ending they would like to see.

Happily Ever After or Star-Crossed Lovers?

Man Wai Hung revealed that two endings for Line Walker were filmed. While one is the happily-ever after scenario that everyone enjoys, the other one is more tragic.

In the opening scene in the first episode, Raymond Lam (林峯) and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) were attacked by a large mob with weapons. Raymond and Charmaine’s fates will depend on whether viewers want to see the pair end up together or be forever separated. A week from now, the viewers will be given a chance to vote on which ending they would like to see.

“Line Walker” Gains Good Feedback

In its fourth week of broadcast, Line Walker averaged 29 ratings points and peaked at 33 points for the week ending September 19. Ratings increased by two points compared to the prior week.

Satisfied with Line Walker‘s reception, Michael Miu (苗僑偉) treated Samantha Ko (高海寧), Elena Kong (江美儀), and Oscar Leung (梁烈唯) to dinner. Michael said, “Each week’s episodes generate new discussion topics and the ratings have been going up. In the last few years, people rarely surround me anymore but nowadays everyone keeps asking who is the undercover cop. Of course, I won’t tell.” Michael added that he personally prefers tragic endings as they leave the audience with a more memorable impression.

Aside from regular viewers, Chow Yun Fat (周潤發) and Wong Jing (王晶) are also fans of the show and eagerly anticipate each new episode. Fat Gor asked if Michael is in fact the mole in the police force, while Wong Jing complimented Charmaine’s acting.

  1. Episode 25 really violence & pathetic. But definately the pinnacles of the whole series

    1. Aint gonna believe it mannnnnnnnnnnnn! Plz dont do this to Cheuk Hoi TVB!!!!!!!!

      1. This twist will turn the logiK of the series upside down. I think it is now bordering on the ridiculous.

i won’t watch any sequels if there are any.

  2. yeah i dont get why michael mui turned into a bad guy. he was such a nice guy throughout the whole show. this is all getting ridiculous, just because they want to twist the plot.

    1. Agree. I was so afraid for the Director of thsi series that he would do one more twist & that would be the SILLIEST twist – of turning MMiu into a bad guy.
Remember the scene where he was confronting his boss & he sat starring into blank space at home with his GF talking about being upright all his life and walking the right path,,,
      that looks so silly now.

I think this will turn off the viewers in droves. Mark my word.

    2. yeah, how is possible?? then whats the point of him trying to find all the UCs and saving them? going through all those stuff with katie??
omg i hope he is not the one behind the traid… that;s ridiculous

  3. i think because the series is so unexpectedly popular – the producers have modified the ending for an open ending.

THerefore Bao Seed will have a grim ending because if there’s a sequel he won’t be at TVB -so they’ll hv to kill off the character.

so -no happy ending for Bao Seed + Ms Sheh.

I guess there won’t be any ending after all. If so – lets hope for more bl00d

  4. Honestly.. after watching ep 27 preview, I dont think cheuk sir will actually turn bad, and its all an act to protect the UCs and the people he loves.
He’s spent 3/4 of the drama trying to find the black cops, infiltrating triads and striving for good, all those doings would be pointless if he was a bad cop.
Its stupid of producers to suddenly make him a bad cop in the last 6 episodes when there’s not been a lead up upto it!!

    1. I think, maybe they is a betrayer in the group, and he is trying to find that person, hence pretending to be bad

    2. i agree with your comment the most. its exactly what i want to say. if cheuk sir is a bad cop and either bao seed or ting dies, the whole series would be the biggest waste of my time

  5. After Charmaine’s performance mourning her 3 mom’s and her “dad’s” deaths, she definitely deserves to be nominated for Best Actress. After her scene with Raymond, when she finds out Bao Seed was there when they were killed, I would give Charmaine the award for Best Actress hands down. Definitely the one of the best performances in a long while at TVB, let alone this year.

    1. Yes, I’m very impressed too. Carmen Lee was good but she is being bumped down to 2nd now.

      1. Honestly the way Carmen Lee’s acting is being raved I expected more from her. I’m currently watching NDA (almost finished with it)since it received so much positive feedback but I wld say her acting was nothing special. Quite stiff, even in that scene where her husband died. I just couldn’t identify with her character’s loss. There was a particular scene where she broke down remembering her hubby when Fatty came in and begged for forgiveness and suddenly she was all smiles and joking with the group. That felt rather inconsistent to me but blame it on the script I guess. Sorry but i just don’t see her as a good contender for BA. I enjoyed watching Flora over Carmen, she was devilishly biatchy, too bad not much of her scenes.

      2. I thought she did pretty good for an actress that hasn’t filmed anything for almost 10 years (??).

She could’ve showed more sadness and grief initially but it’s because she didn’t accept her husband’s death. And she played a role in his death so I understand her reaction.

I also like reactions that are not dramatic but that’s just me; Charmaine’s reaction was pretty good and understandable. Burst seed on the other hand didn’t show much emotion…. A little regret and remorse.

      3. @Andrew i didn’t know her from her previous dramas. This is the first time I’m watching her. I think her acting’s just so-so, nothing near good or BA worthy that some are hyping here. Her Mo Siu Sze role is boring so is the drama. What’s wrong with the biatchy MIL still fighting with DIL right after her son died? And the rebellious daughter I’d give her a tight slap 2 ep into the drama. Too many irritating characters. The one who keeps me watching is Flora and i’m not even her fan. Just my opinion.

      4. Andrew thats why i love her. Grief doesnt mean she has to scream and screech and cry till the mirrors crack. That will be what 90 percent acreesses do. Carmen dud it beautifully. Charmaine didnt di as good. I know her scene us screaming tv queen but even myolie will act that way. I disagree on charmaine, it is her personal best deserves a nomination but not the winner. She is inconsistent.

      5. Agree that showing grief doesn’t mean she has to scream and screech which she eventually did anyway. It’s those scenes showing her in denial which i found her acting lacking. In fact she did better at those parts where she was grieving visibly (crying loudly) than in those scenes which she was supposed to be grieving silently. I just couldn’t feel any sadness coming from her or for her.

      6. Interesting thoughts you guys. I think you all have your own points and defended them well.

  6. Episode 25 is miserable!!!! Very sad!!

And I’m still on the fence as to whether Samantha is black or white.

I mean I understand “Mr. Song” is supposedly the person in charge but SHE DID order the killers to go after the three mothers. She definitely played a part in causing their deaths.

And she just blames it off at the end of the episode. LMAO AND WTF!?

      1. I believe she is pretending to be white in an attempt to pull out and kill all the UCs.

When she told burst seed that she had no choice, I was like WTF !? No remorse from her if she is indeed a good UC.

  7. So it seems like only Char and Uncle Ray and of course the director, knew ahead of time that 2 endings were being filmed.

It will be interesting what ending ends up being aired.

Personally I like happy endings but I do think a sad ending will be more memorable.

Just like how ROE is still in my head and how tragically the three mothers died.

If they want impact – sad ending

If they want to please the viewers (since they let then “vote”, the happy ending will prevail.

    1. For some reason, I think they may just air the sad ending without caring much about what the viewers think……

Anyhow, Samantha will die soon (deservingly so I’ll say).

The next characters I predict that will die are:

      Elena

      Oscar

      Sharon

  8. But I have to say, I wish the HK media didn’t leak out so much details of the drama.

Because it destroys the suspense and anticipation.

Already it is revealed Michael Miu is just pretending to have turned bad in an attempt to gain the trust of the big bosses.

And it is revealed burst seed and nail are just pretending to turn bad and use the triad’s influence to get to their goals.

If the drama aired in the 80s or even 90s, I don’t think viewers will know the plot in advance.

    1. Uh, perhaps some etiquette dictates that you preface this with a simple spoiler alert? Just a thought – not everyone is aware of or wants to know these details.

But if true, these “twists” aren’t exactly new or surprising… And what is up with TVB leaking so many spoilers for all their dramas?

      1. Oops, I thought people read the synopsis ahead of time. My fault.

And I don’t know why TVB leaks so much spoilers nowadays. It totally kills the suspense.

  9. I hope the director / producer will not twist the plot until viewers cannot believe it with strong reasons that could spoil the whole story..Mayne I am too late as it going to end this week..The making of the story is already ‘Close Shop’..For example..Benz death..Safety House..shouldn’t be know by too many party..3 moms..Bodyguard…

  10. Can’t believe the sad ending is leading by 20% in the tvb fun poll. People deserve some happiness in life!!!

    1. Hong Kongers love sadness and grief…… No wonder they are protesting.

  11. Did Michael Miu kill Samantha Ko and frame Bao Seed? That was never revealed.
