In this film, I added elements which can be enjoyed by audiences from different age groups, such as the relationship between an elderly father and daughter. The intention is to allow the entire family to have a topic of discussion after viewing it.”

Regarding the sensational pairing of “Film King” Andy Lau and “Film Queen” Gong Li, Andy said he had anticipated the opportunity for a long time. “I have known Gong Li for many years. In my eyes, she possesses a unique Asian feminine beauty that meets many men’s dreams. I have always wanted to collaborate with her in a film. Finally this wish was realized! Our cooperation was very pleasant and relaxing.”

Jayne: Andy Lau has a natural flirtatious charm that suits his character in What Women Want well. I find Gong Li more suitable for period dramas. We’ll see how she fares as the modern office lady. This film should do well as Andy Lau still has a large following.

  1. Of all the Lunar New Year films, I am looking forward to this one the most. I cannot think of any Andy Lau movies that I did not enjoy. He just has this screen presence that is unbeatable. Perfect timing for both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day. It will be definitely refreshing to see Gong Li in a modern, career women role. She still looks great!

  2. Is this a remake of the US film What Women Want starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt?

  3. JD, yes Bona Pictures Group obtained rights to make the Chinese version, likely with some minor changes.

  4. I just hope the movie is Cantonese. Andy can speak Mandarin fairly well but he’s not so good with acting and speaking at the same time.

    1. you should learn Mandarin so theres more stuff to enjoy 🙂 Andy is alright, his action has been good over the recent years. cantonese are harder to find if you know what I mean!?

  5. One thing about Andy Lau is his love for his wife, Carol Chu, it’s so special. Imagine he’s quite good-looking, successful and he’s always surrounded with a lot of good-looking women. But, despite all these, he never stray, Carol Chu is indeed lucky to marry someone like Andy Lau.
