Since winning the TVB Best Actress Award last year and with increasing opportunities to film in China, Myolie Wu’s (胡杏儿) exposure and fame continued to increase. Her new mainland drama, Racecourse <跑马场> with Bosco Wong (黄宗泽), was currently being broadcast on CCTV station in China. Although Racecourse was not the first time in which the real-life lovers had collaborated together, Myolie and Bosco’s maturation as actors can be observed in the drama. Myolie also spoke about her 7-year dating relationship, the reasons why she loved Bosco, and why he was the “best” in her eyes.
Racecourse was Bosco’s first mainland drama, in which he portrayed historical figure and horse jockey, “Zuo Tian Yi,” who was originally from a royal family that fell on hard times. Racecourse chronicled how he became a patriot and his awe-inspiring story and achievements during the German colonization and Japanese occupation period in Qingdao.
Although Myolie was good friends with the producer of Racecourse, she did not originally recommend Bosco for the role. The character of “Zuo Tian Yi” was a little naughty and cynical when he smiled, but inside he possessed a great sense of justice. The producer had watched Bosco’s TVB performances and felt that he suited the lead role perfectly. Thus, Myolie served as a bridge of communications between the producer and Bosco.
Bosco liked Myolie’s reporter role in Racecourse due to her patriotic spirit. However, her character was too hot-tempered and not very feminine. In Racecourse, Bosco’s character was involved with several women. Asked what views she possessed towards men who did not commit soley to one woman at a time, Myolie responded, “It is definitely not right for a man to behave in such a manner. Of course, any woman would mind! In the past, reports surfaced that Bosco was rumored with other women. This is not true; it is a misunderstanding. He is very honest with me. We do not have this problem. As for his character in Racecourse, he is not truly a playboy.”
Due to their filming schedules, Myolie and Bosco did not spend a lot of time together. As Myolie’s fame in China increased, she will continue to spend more time working in mainland China. The long-distance factor did not pose as a problem for the lovers, who have learned that when their hearts were united, it did not matter where they were physically. Myolie said, “We can make a phone call or send a text message. Even when two people are in love, they do not need to be together everyday. If we have each other in our hearts, then it does not matter where both of us are.”
Bosco Is the Best!
Due to Myolie Wu’s TV Queen title and rising popularity in mainland China, the public often dubbed her relationship with Bosco Wong as “strong woman, inferior man.” Myolie said that she did not feel that the assessment was fair. She said, “I do not consider myself to be very strong. In my eyes, he is always the best. He has an enterprising spirit. Everyone should be able to see his years of hard work and achievements.”
Myolie indicated that Bosco was a talented individual. However, luck and timing were also important factors in determing an actor’s fame and opportunities. “The success of a person is very difficult to determine by oneself. Everyone wants to be famous and win awards, which are limited in number. Who can guess who will be the next award winner?” Myolie saw a bright future ahead for Bosco, ”His career prospects are not bad now and he has started filming in China. I believe that Bosco will do even better than me!”
Sweet and Sour
In their 7-year relationship together, Myolie indicated that there have been numerous ups-and-downs. She stated, “Everyone will have happy and unhappy moments while in a love relationship. Isn’t a relationship comprised of sweet times and bickering half the time?” It was Bosco’s cheerful personality which attracted Myolie the most, a quality which has shaped Myolie’s positive outlook in their relationship. “Everyday, he looks very happy, as if he has no troubles. I especially like this quality the most. I am a pessismist. If he possessed the same personality, then our relationship would be very painful.”
Bosco’s sunshine personality has trickled its effect upon Myolie, in which she learned to manage expectations and resolve problems with less anxiety. Myolie said, “Everyone has dreams and expectations. I have gotten used to handling things in a low-key manner. Problems test us. Anyway, I now possess the mentality where I try to face situations like a newcomer [without such great pressure upon myself]. I will learn to control myself, perhaps that will take me one step closer to success.”
Myolie added, “Seven years are not a short time. Without tolerance, it is impossible to maintain the relationship for so long. I am a typical pessimist and have many faults. He is very cheerful and loves to make people laugh. He also has many faults. Our personalities are complementary and we have our differences. But we will continue to support each other.” Indeed, some marriages did not even last 7 years. Myolie spoke with a maturity characteristic of a couple who had met at a young age and matured together due to shared life experiences.
Asked what were her most memorable experiences in the industry, Myolie said, “Winning the Miss Hong Kong Pageant second runner-up title allowed me to enter the entertainment industry and fall in love with acting. Taking lead roles allowed me to have a forward momentum. Winning the TV Queen title gave me more confidence. Finding a boyfriend was even better, indicating that I also have a good man to love me.”
Bosco Full of Praises for Myolie
Aside from supporting each other in times of need, Bosco and Myolie also had fun together as well. Bosco revealed that Myolie had tried to help him with his makeup once, filling in his eyebrows, in which Bosco joked that there was room in improvement in Myolie’s skills. The couple shared a passion for fashion together. Bosco admitted that he has also borrowed Myolie’s skincare products and masks to beautify himself!
Asked which qualities he liked best about Myolie, Bosco said, “Many different aspects–both the interior and exterior qualities!” Asked what was the most beautiful aspect of Myolie, Bosco said, “The interior aspects! Otherwise if you only consider the exterior qualities, that would be too superficial!” While he did not elaborate further, Bosco was full of appreciation towards his girlfriend.
Although their relationship appeared to be extremely stable, marked by mutual trust and admiration for each other, Myolie and Bosco will focus on their careers for the time being. They will not consider marriage until a later point, when they have achieved more of their dreams and ready to embrace the next most important stage in their lives.

racecourse has finished airing in CCTV8 and get good reviews for the actings and patriotic theme but the downside is CCTV8 is not a popular tv station among the younger generation and the serious patriotic theme drives many youngsters away too.

I didn’t like the dubbing too because I’m used to their real voices…I’d rather listen to Bosco’s imperfect Mandarin if given a choice…his mandarin is quite good too now from interview clips… -_-

Quite good is not good enough unfortunately. They just want accentless accent and frankly for these 2 I can understand. Again if the professional sounding voices are dubbed, more so them. I can imagine why dub myolie. At least find a good dubbing voice. If it is that bad, it means not much attention on the details isn’t it?
Not a fan of either Bosco or Myolie. Used to think that Bosco could only act those silly roles until the villainous role that he did in “Lives of Omission”. Have to change my mind ……. Bosco can handle other characters!
As for Myolie, I still have doubts on her acting. She is better in acting modern drama series than ancient ones. She did pretty badly in “Curse of the Royal Harem”. Unfortunately she won her TV Queen in this series, and not in “Ghetto Justice”.
If not Myolie, who else can win last year? Tell me. Myolie was the only standout among the female TVB artistes.

Speaking about that grand production with Damien and kenneth, I was told that the reason Fala pulled out from filming was because of TY. Fala was casted as first lead like TY, therefore she use the reason of being unhealthy to quit the series.

I heard too. Rumours said Fala was unsatisfied that Tavia has much bigger screentime and prominence than her role. Coincidetally she got sick a bit and has a reason to pull out. She was still active by attending numerous events to make money during her sick break.
Maybe i m harsh but I don’t believe these artists who say they’re too sick to film a series can still earn xtra money attending events lol. Fala was obviously showing some attitudes there.

Which is another reason why I don’t like Fala… She seems a bit cocky and annoying. Her acting, looks and everything is way overrated. But then again, many of them are these days. Of course, they will care for the award this year if their fave has chance and praise Txb’s award like it has never been fair like this before. But if the grand series is a flop, something like “620 hates A, B, C, D, E, F” will appear everywhere. All are others’ faults, always!

For the money factor, well, not everyone need this title to be loved by sponsors and earn a lot of money and fame outside Txb.

i think this is one of the main things that make a relationship work: respect for each other.
Interestingly her relationship with him does lower the gossips of her being arrogant. Was it her? I do think so. Bosco makes her seem more down to earth. The openess of their relationship suggests one part sincerity, and one part PR.
But they also tried to hide and lie about their relationship for many years… They only finally openly admitted it recently.
Yes, and I suspect more PR. Moreover what is there to hide anymore? One got caught fully naked, another got caught kissing and toweling him dry. If they still act coy or deny, then it is hypocrisy. Admitting did wonders to their image, especially her image rather than denying. It is a calculated move.
Totally agree which is why I really like it when artists admit their relationships, especially if they are caught red handed since what more is there to hide?? Continuing to lie will just make things worse, therefore, it is good that they FINALLY admitted it before people get annoyed with them lying through their teeth.

Individually I am not a fan of either Myolie or Bosco. I find Myolie too ambitious and Bosco too happy-go-lucky.
However I do respect their 7 years’ relationship. 7 years in the same relationship is not easy to attain for ordinary folks, not to mention those in the entertainment circle where temptations are many.
Individually they are not that strong. But together, they are a power couple. I think this is an instance where being together betters the other person, for both parties.
After 7 years together, they should have a good understanding of each other’s personalities, accomodating and adapting to each other. Even if Bosco is tempted by other ladies or vice versa, the other party will not be able to know him as well as his current partner, until 7 years later.
Well there have been other successful relationships/marriages in the circle that has lasted for over 20 years. But it is hard for even ordinary folks and more so for celebs. Hopefully they will stay together until marriage and the rest of their lives.They are another on screen and off screen couple which is also rare in the circle..
They are cute together. When they are together, they spread out a very comfortable feel.

New faces are always welcome as long as they can act! A good actor, even older with an illustrious career, is capable of reinventing and giving the audiences a good performance. I am never tired of seeing Wayne Lai for this reason.

For me I dun find this kind of ladies any special attractive or so call beautiful. Nice look maybe ‘yes’ . I more comfortable with this current 5 fa dan look. Even many people claim they are not pretty enough, but they have individual special look and own unique pretty. Better than PSS , Viann and Angela baby. No special unique beauty.

Not really, but also have to consider the features of their faces to see if it works well with the others or not.
I don’t consider too high (witch) nose or too big eyes as pretty. Someone have everything in face remade and after this, each thing can be considered as standard pretty but when combining all, it looks weird and just make her look like a clown.
S shape is sexy, lol. However, to think of beautiful, everything must go well with other and not too over.
Angelababy was unique, but too many girls copied her so she becomes one in the group. Haizz, who tell her to be too pretty (even with plastic surgeries).
I think PSS is pretty, even in the childhood pic. Lolz, even if she had plastic surgeries, she had good ones and everything in her face go well with each other.
