Natalie Tong Will Not Date a Smoker
Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) and James Ng (吳業坤) made an appearance at an anti-smoking event in Yau Tong, urging Hong Kong citizens to take care of their health and quit smoking. Surrounded by secondhand smoke for most of her life, Natalie stressed that she will not date a smoker.
“All the men in my family smoked. My father had successfully quit, and my brother is in the process. Smoking is not good for your health and your heart. Cigarettes are expensive. When I was five years old, I already told myself that I will never date someone who smokes. One of my first boyfriends was a smoker, but I didn’t know about that until after we broke up.”
Asked if rumored boyfriend Tony Hung (洪永城) is a smoker, Natalie said, “I don’t know.” Has Natalie warned Tony about smoking? “We never mentioned it, but honestly, I really cannot accept a boyfriend who smokes. It’s a big problem for me. He will lose all the points if he smokes.”
Natalie then expressed gratefully that she has not come across a colleague who is a frequent smoker. “My TVB colleagues are all okay so far. If one of my costars is a [frequent] smoker and I have to film a kissing scene together, I’ll give him some candy.”

I’m the same with Natalie… I can’t accept a partner who smokes :/ not particularly trying to stereotype , but I did realise when I went to Hong Kong for vacation a lot of Hong Kong people smoke, to my surprise a lot of females were smokers too.
I have noticed that many artists smoke. Some said they smoked because it helped to relieve their stress during the long and stressful hours of filming as well as stay awake. It is actually hard to find an artist that does not smoke. Maybe Natalie needs to find a boyfriend outside the industry? Nkw I onder if Tony smokes or not? Hm…

If people “must” smoke, at least do it outdoors (not indoors where the smoke stink/fume is trapped FOREVER).
Yes, Ruco smokes. Smoking sometimes help a person to destress. Different people use different methods to destress. So when a person smokes, it doesn’t mean that he/she is a bad person. Anyway, Ruco doesn’t hide the fact that he smokes. He smokes publicly during film breaks. And yes, smoking somehow doesn’t go well with his public image and sporty personality. But what the heck, smoke or no smoke, I love him all the same!!! He’s smokin’ hot hot hot 🙂
I can tell you guys that my late 100 year old grandma smoked( although not heavily) but she still lived a heathy life until 100. I guess all bodies work differently.
@HTS: The smokers themselves only breath 20% of smoke into their lungs. 80% goes to the alternative smoker ie. the people near the smokers. Therefore smokers affect others more than killing themselves. This is why a smoker who smoke in front of non-smoker is such a bad guy.
Of course, the health is different to each person. Some smoke, drink, etc. everyday but can have long life while some people living healthy die soon due to cancer. Life is unfair.
Whatever, I support Natalie to stay away from a date/marriage with a smoker. A smoker isnt a bad guy but his/her habit gives bad effect to others. Smoking in public area where there are many non-smokers is such a bad action. In my understanding, HK banned people to smoke in public and working area (except the places for smoking outdoor). Wonder why some still break the laws to smoke in working area.
That being said, I’d rather a smoker than a cheating abusive jerk.

Not sure about the percentages myself so will not argue with you on that. But anyways,yes life is truly unfair and none of us will ever understand why.
I also would not date a smoker and smoking already gives me a bad impression of any person. I cannot imagine kissing a person who smokes. The smell of smoke already freaks me out.
Maybe she’s indirectly rejecting Tony Hung. If not, then take notes.
I second Natalie’s decision. I also hate smokers with a passion and thus, will never choose someone who smokes. If someone opts to smoke, personally I think they should be quarantined. And let their own 2nd hand smoke and possible lung cancer get back to them. It’s just natural Darwinism at work.
People who can’t stand that smoke stink/fume will feel suffocated dating a smoker.
I feel sorry for Natalie having been delegated to supporting newbies recently. The only news she is generating is with this Tony guy. I don’t think TVB is giving her any opportunities. A wise career move for her would be to improve her acting skills and leave TVB because she’s not getting younger.
