Raymond Lam Signs with EEG for $100 Million

Raymond Lam (林峯) has signed an exclusive management contract with Hong Kong’s top talent agency, Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG). EEG executive Ng Yue (吳雨) confirmed the reports on yesterday.

In July, Raymond chose not to renew his management contract with TVB, his employer for 15 years. Since the expiration of his TVB contract, the 34-year-old has been approached by many top agencies, including mainland China’s Huayi Brothers, Bona, and Raymond Wong’s (黃百鳴) Pegasus Entertainment.

On October 19, various sources reported that Raymond has decided to sign with EEG, his former record label of seven years. Raymond reportedly signed a three-year exclusive contract with EEG for $100 million HKD, and is already planning the next step of his career.

EEG chairman Albert Yeung (楊受成) personally met up with Raymond and convinced him to sign with the company, touching Raymond deeply. Raymond’s decision to sign with EEG was also supported by his father, businessman Lam Kwok Wah (林國華).

Reportedly, Raymond’s first big project as an EEG artiste will be the release of a full-length album, and his comeback single will be tailor-made for Raymond by in-house producers. It has been two years since Raymond released a new studio album, which was 2012’s Self-Portrait.

EEG executive Ng Yue said, “Raymond has collaborated with us for many years. His four concert tours were a success, and now that he has decided to join us, we will develop his film, TV and music career further. EEG will arrange a contract signing ceremony for him soon.” However, Ng Yue chose not disclose the cost of Raymond’s new EEG contract.

      1. buying lots of hand bags has nothing to do with us. i dont get why people are saying crap about it. It’s his money and he could do whatever he wants and buy whatever he wants for his gf. are you jealous???

      2. Buying handbags or goods in common are good for the economy, help the world to develop and give the payment to the labours. It is a good thing to do. You can do it yourself to contribute something to the world instead of only taking O2 and giving CO2.

      3. Earning, saving and spending are in the same category.
There is nothing special as seriously as what you said.
        Just take it easy !!!

    1. With eeg entertainment backup, the next resolution:-

1)win jsg best male singer (3rd consecutive year)
      2)form a charity foundation
      3) be a heavenly king
4)win hk or golden horse movie best actor
5)to have manaquen in madame tussand
      6) embrace a name in hk avenue of star

      1. #1 won’t be possible if EEG really is deciding not to sign contract with TVB anymore.

  1. yeah – that what he should do – earn a lot of money. Even I do not like his acting but if there is a market, then he should not stick with TVB

  2. I think he is worth it because he is very popular in the fame.

  3. Win-win deal here. Raymond is very marketable, so whichever company signs him will benefit.

  4. soooo exciting for LF….BEST Wishes! Looking forward to your new album! 🙂

  5. Good choice Raymond, good choice. I had a feeling he would join EEG. Yeah! Now lost of my gave singers are in the same company. EEG is pretty similar to TVB cause in both companies, all its artists are so close like a big family. Hope EEG gives him more movies and pairs him along with big actors. Also hope his songs will be much better than his old ones.

  6. How about a duet with Joey? They always wanted their own.

  7. Good luck Raymond Lam!!.Such a good news, now you can conquer movie and music world beside just TV world when you’re in TVB.

  8. EEG is a good choice because they have strong connections with both HK and China. Raymond’s career will only soar signing with EEG since they got money. If you notices majority of EEG’s older artists are very popular in China. Raymond is pretty close to Charlene and Joey so definitely looking forward to their collaborations. The only thing is that I don’t think EEG will be allowing Raymond to film for TVB anymore. So far EEG has only allowed their popular artists to film in China because the salary is better and the exposure is much larger too.

    1. Joey Yung did star in a number of TVB series. So, there’s still chance that Raymond will appear in a TVB series again.

      1. My mistake, I meant to say EEG hasn’t allowed their popular actors/actresses to film for TVB. Joey don’t have much demand to film in the China market whereas Raymond does so it’s very unlikely that EEG will choose a TVB production over a Mainland production since their artists get paid so much more in China. Hence why Twins and Nicholas haven’t film for TVB in years since TVB won’t be able to afford them. EEG’s main goal for their artists is to make it big in the Mainland market, Mani has mention that before. For the HK market, EEG is only focusing on movies. The great thing with Raymond signing with EEG too is that they do have connection to productions that films adaptation from novels! Look at William Chan! He’s extremely popular in China right now, he gain 4 millions follower with his drama with Yang Mi and he isn’t even the lead.

      2. Talking about novel adaptations, I wonder what makes some adaptation popular and some not.

Sammul Chan was in several novel adaptations, but, other than ‘Beauty Scheme’, I didn’t see him become hugely popular from the other novel adaptations he participated in.

Anyone know how is the rating of ‘Beauties at the Crossfire'(烽火佳人) in China?

      3. You are right, Lol. I also think that he wont take a TVB series any soon, not likely for the next two or three years. With EEG, he will direct his career to movie and singing paths instead of series. Likely Chinese series if he films series. Perhaps one day he will appear again in a TVB series.

I also hope he will star in novel adaption, of course, Chinese series :P.

      4. @Kidd; Yu Zheng involvement and the series will be famous (or infamous) :P.

Actually it is partly up to which channel(s) the series are aired. Big 4 (Hunan, Zhejiang, Dragon, Beijing) and the rising star Jiangsu are better than the others.

      5. Joey did star in TVB series?? Which ones? I do not remember seeing her act in any series. My mom asked if she acted in series but I said no. I would love to see her act.

      6. @HTS: Academy 2, The green hope, Not Just a Pretty Face and guest appearance in Sunshine Heartbeat

    2. Didn’t reports say EEG is planning not to sign contract with TVB anymore? That means no more TVB theme songs by Joey or Ray anymore. =( I loved both On Call themes and Ray’s themes also.

    3. Kidd: Just like what Alluka said, the series’ success does depend on the tv station. Most drama pick up by Hunan tv can easily become popular as it’s a huge network that gets ton of exposure. Sammual has been filming Chinese series for years but I don’t recall if any of his series were pick up by big tv network. I do remember that his series with Gillian actually went straight to DVD first then oversea and finally a small network purchase the copyrights to air it in a limited part of China. If Raymond gets a series purchased by Hunan TV his popularity will definitely soar for sure.

      1. For example, Scheme Beauty was aired on a small channel before HunanTV bought it and Scheme Beauty only became famous after getting in Hunan. The channel is very important.

The company is also important. A company with good connections with some big channels will have advantage to sell the series and gain back through copyright return.

Of course, the quality of the company will be the most important. It has to fit the gout of audience to become famous. The best example is Boss & Me which is famous due to its sweetness. The series itself isnt too good, but its sweetness is something new.

As for LF, he can use his wave in China created by Wei Zi Fu and Line Walker. It is right time.

  9. He will be another Nicholas Tse, but more successful in music industry.

    Good luck, Raymond Lam.

    1. more like andy lau….
he leaves tvb to be successful in musics and movies

      1. Andy had the full support of TVB though. It seems like Raymond didn’t exactly leave on good terms.

      2. Really??? I thought Raymond left on good terms. With Andy I heard that he was frozen shortly before he left TVB which was why his final series with TVB,Tian Lang Kip was warehoused. Maybe they reached out to Andy since he is so popular and Andy let go of the grudges, therefore, they are now on decent terms?? Not sure…

  10. Very happy to hear about this. Raymond has made the right decision to leave TVB. EEG should help him attain greater success. I’m really looking forward to his next album.

  11. I think this is why Raymond Lam is dubbed to be the next Andy Lau. Not a fan of his acting or singing, but 100million is a lot of money, good for him.

    1. Don’t think so because he’s not Andy Lau lol. Everything about this guy is so-so but his family does have a lot of money. He’s the first so-so guy to leave “It’s my way or the highway” (TVB) and landed in the hand of Albert Yeung without paying for it with his soul. Definitely having money helps because they always get more attentions. 😀 🙁 LOL!

      1. Nicholas Tse was not that good when he signed up with EGG ….. both singing and acting, but he turned out to be quite successful in acting. Raymond Lam should be better than Nicholas Tse anyway.

Of course it is absolutely okay, but please don’t mention my name in your future posts, or “you” right under my posts. Thanks!

        Readers:
Be careful of some wild and crazy readers on this forum. Once they bite you, they will never let you go ……. 咬住不放 like a dxg!

        LOL! 😀 🙁 LOL!

      3. “Don’t think so because he’s not Andy Lau lol. Everything about this guy is so-so “

This can also be said about Andy Lau. Andy Lau might be a Heavenly King, but, singing he can’t beat Jacky Cheung, his acting can’t beat Tony Leung, his dancing can’t beat Aaron Kwok.

I have heard countless ‘Andy Lau can’t sing’ during the Heavenly Kings era.

It’s this same as Raymond Lam’s situation?

      4. “It’s this same as Raymond Lam’s situation?”

Hell if i know. The answer is in “Google it”. 😀 🙁 LOL!

      5. “Hell if i know. The answer is in “Google it””

You should know because you are the one who said he’s not Andy Lau.

      6. “You should know because you are the one who said he’s not Andy Lau.”

You are not going to like it. You better off “Google it”. 😀 🙁 LOL!

      7. “You are not going to like it. You better off “Google it”.”

Nope. I would like to hear your opinion. So, just say it.

      8. Unless you own Google, don’t ask me to ‘Google It’ for your opinion because Google won’t have it.

    2. Andy came from a poor background so lets see if he can be like Andy.

      1. Andy came from a poor background but Andy ain’t stupid. 😀 🙁 LOL!

  12. i DUNNO why many people don’t seem to like LF. i mean his acting is quite good and his singing is excellent for young ladies.

I am an oldie but i enjoyed his hit “ON MY WAY” very much.

    1. Oldie! LOLs who would say that about themselves. Anyways, my mom would agree with you that he does have good singing skills, but crappy songs for him to sing. She also was amazed at his acting when he debuted in that ancient drama.

I do think he is a good actor and singer, but everything declined once he became famous and TVB worked him out. I love his old dramas and have rewatched them over and over again.

      1. I agree with you…but I am his super fans…so will still support him! BTY, his most recent drama and series are great!

      2. I didn’t really like his acting in Line Walker that much cause it was basically a mix of Sister Fa and Highs & Lows. Nothing new, so…
Hope his singing and acting improves again in EEG.

  13. What a waste of money. He needs to quit the entertainment industry ALL TOGETHER!!!

    1. If it was a waste of money, EEG wouldn’t have spent so much on Raymond. Companies are there to make money. EEG prob already planned everything out for Raymond in order to make up for that large sum spent.

  14. wow, so much money, don’t need to buy any of his albums already

  15. A Wise choice .Actually I enjoy his acting more than his singing. HIs voice is not really impressive. However, Good luck.

    1. I actually love his voice. It’s full of bass and it’s his voice that makes his acting enjoyable to watch (even if the acting not that great), especially in emotional scenes.

  16. Highly over rated. Dancing is very awkward just like Joey. Not many memorable songs. In fact all the current crop of HK singing artistes are over rated. Just take a look at neighboring Taiwan for top quality performers. I am a Chinese & I feel the HK singing artistes are way behind The Taiwanese in every aspect. Maybe creativity is dead in HK.

    1. When they are paid big sums of money, they better be good all-rounders or else I am sorry to say they just fall short of expectation. Show business is highly competitive. Artistes need to be disciplined, physically fit,PR savvy & always be a good role model. Failing which they would be ridiculed because fans or would-be fans pay big sums of money to watch them perform. Do I need to remind you what mistake LF made during his performance at the last TVB awards show. I am not attacking HK artistes for the sake of it. I mean, you must give credit where credit is due.

  17. Not a fan of tawainese music or k-pop. Don’t like the fact that they’re so Americanized. Of course I don’t listen to american music either despite being born in north America and living here my whole life. I like my HK music, my Joey Young. =)

    1. With all due respect. I admire your undying admiration towards HK singing artistes & actors but if you say you dislike Taiwanese music, does it mean you dislike Mandarin songs. I am 100% Cantonese & I am not from mainland China or Taiwan. I’m neutral when it comes to entertainment be it songs, music, movies or even TV series. My 2nd. eldest brother & family are HK PR & I have been to HK/ Macau & I know the benefits of conversing in Cantonese. In fact, where I come from, most Chinese are well verse in 4 languages or more. Knowing English,Mandarin,Cantonese,Hokkien,Hakka is normal. When I was young, I only like Cantonese songs but as I got older I realized one musn’t limit ones liking as good music/songs is universal.I just feel that the HK artistes performances are overly exaggerated by their cartel bosses EEG/TVB. Please bear in mind that Cantonese is mainly spoken in HK only whereas Mandarin is globally spoken. Hence,Cantonese is not representative of the Chinese speaking world.

      1. “Hence,Cantonese is not representative of the Chinese speaking world.”

YanYan Kong never said Cantonese is representative of Chinese speaking world. He/she only said he/she likes Hong Kong music.

What does liking HK music have to do with whether or not Canto is representative of Chinese speaking world?

    2. I just prefer HK music and singers over other country’s, but doesn’t mean I don’t listen to them at all. As I Canadian resident, I obviously have to listen to american songs. There are some singers and songs I like from other countries, but very few compared to HK ones.

    3. Sorry, it’s Yung. My chinese isn’t that great as you can tell. Yung, Young, Yeung, etc. It’s so confusing. Get’s even worse when people here say Lee, Le, Yeh, Ye, etc. You can’t tell the difference.

  18. 100 million for 3 years is pretty much the same as what LF usually earns he already earns like 30. Million each year
