Linda Chung Thanks “Godbrother” Steven Ma for Supportive Presence

Linda is thankful for Steven’s continuous friendship, calling him “someone special”.

Recently, Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) brought her daughter and son to Hong Kong for a work-vacation trip. The 35-year-old caught up with the many friends made during her 13-year work relationship with TVB. Besides meeting up with good friends Christine Kuo (苟芸慧), Leanne Li (李亞男) and Grace Wong (王君馨), she also had a gathering with her Heart of Greed <溏心風暴> co-stars, veteran artistes Ha Yu (夏雨), Louise Lee (李司棋) and Michelle Yim (米雪), showing her strong popularity in the industry. Perhaps one of the most precious friends she made was Steven Ma (馬浚偉), whom Linda regards as a godbrother.

“My Awesome Hong Kong Friend”

On May 2, Linda uploaded two photographs on her social media of Steven interacting with her daughter Kelly and son Jared. From the kids’ familiarity around the actor, it seems that the meetup was not the first time. Linda expressed her gratitude to Steven, who is known for being an exceptional friend.

Her post caption read, “This man is someone special. We are not blood-related. We’ve filmed five dramas together. He never asks for anything in return. He always stands up for me when he feels I’m not treated properly. He is kind. He is gentle. He is righteous. He is wise. He is my awesome Hong Kong friend and is like a brother to me.” Through her thankful note and generous praise, it is apparent that the two share a close bond almost akin to kinship.

Classic TVB Couple Turned Close Friends

Linda and Steven’s onscreen pairing is well-loved by many TVB fans. They teamed up in Linda’s first drama Virtues of Harmony <皆大歡喜>, 2008’s A Journey Called Life <金石良緣>, 2009’s A Watchdog’s Tale <老友狗狗>, and 2010’s Ghost Writer <蒲松齡>, and finally 2012’s Daddy Good Deeds <當旺爸爸>. It is no wonder that the two were able to develop a close friendship, as Steven had witnessed her improvement in acting and progress over the years.

From co-stars to good friends and now, almost like a close family member, Linda and Steven’s bond between the two is truly admirable in an industry where true friends are hard to find.

  1. Steven Ma seems like such a nice guy. He always forms a deep (platonic) bond with his female co-stars: Linda, Tavia, Fala and more recently Nancy.

  2. I love this friendship! Steven Ma is pretty popular himself, and he definitely has strong friendships with many of his other female costars.
A bit nostalgic seeing Linda among past and current TVB stars!

  3. Too bad he didn’t get to end up with neither one. Not sure why Kelly face is covered with red heart if the world already knows how she looks like.
