Miracles Shaped Linda Chung’s Faith: “I Thought I Would Die”

Back in 2005, Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) was filming on location in Mainland China for TVB drama he Biter Bitten <人生馬戲團> with costars Shirley Yeung (楊思琦), Michael Tong (唐文龍), and Benny Chan (陳浩民) when a scary incident occurred. One night, the cast and crew went out to a karaoke bar to celebrate Shirley’s birthday, and they ended up being chased by armed men. At the time, Shirley and Linda hid together for a few hours until one of the crew members found them. Since everyone was safe and sound, TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲) ordered everyone to stay quiet, but because it was blown up by rumors, many of the victims spoke up about it in recent years.

Linda Said It Was a Miracle She Survived

Recently, Linda went on a radio show as a guest to promote her new self-composed song “Mommy, I Love You So” <做你的晨曦>. When Linda mentioned her journey in believing in the Lord, she revisited the time she was chased by a group of men with knives. She expressed it was a miracle she escaped from that incident.

“The moment I fled, I just closed my eyes and prayed, ‘Jesus, save me! I still want to see my mom and dad, I don’t want to die yet!’ I just remember that it was suddenly dead quiet, and when I opened my eyes all the big guys were gone,” Linda recounted.

Jesus Told Linda to Compose Her New Song

In fact, Linda once resisted Christianity, as her parents believed in Buddhism. However, she encountered a lot of miracles in her life since entering the entertainment industry, which led Linda to believe in Jesus.

“Things kept happening, and if I put it all together, I will feel that Jesus loves me very much,” she explained. “I started to feel that everything will be fine, I feel that I have value, I feel that I have light.”

Linda continued, “He wanted to use me for my skills. For example, Jesus told me to make the song, or else I wouldn’t have composed it in just five minutes. It would be impossible!”

  1. Why is she still relevant? TVB keeps promoting her and hoping she’ll make a comeback soon. I can’t stand her in real life and on-screen. #fakeaf

    1. @sugadough ewwww…..she sure is #fakeaf .Look at her in that posed photo with her old hubby, double yucks. The way she throws around God’s name makes me want to slap her real bad. To think I once liked her, ewww…bad taste. Pray that she disappears from the entertainment scene, cant stand her fake “teh-bao ” voice, “hum-bao” face and saccharine personality.

      1. @passingby2 i cant disagree. As a catholic myself, i really cant stand the way she talks about God. Jesus helps her to write the song??? Oh pls!!! Linda should stay in Canada with her family instead of flying to hongkong and babbling.

  2. Only two roles she played that have impressed- gem of life and journey of life. the rest was just ok, tolerable. but can’t stand the way she gushes on her faith and married life too =)

  3. Incredible. So many people share the same opinion of Linda Chung. I thought it was just me. My belief is that if everyone who shares this opinion, donates $1 to start a club and secure a clubhouse, we would be able to buy a penthouse in Manhattan.

  4. Literally cringed while reading this article. She needs to move on and stop trying to promote herself/her family life. Sharing a little bit is fine but all these articles, songs, music videos about her family etc … WAY too much!! Is she trying to flaunt it to someone? Heaps of people have a husband and kids (better looking ones!), nothing special!

PS. Tell daddy to get a hair cut

  5. @sugadough – Exactly the question I was going to ask …why is she still relevant? She should just stop her attention seeking ways and not try so hard to stay in the news!

  6. I would love to see Linda coming back to TVB, love her acting and singing, other people just being jealous of her.

    1. @bella Yea, I am sure a majority of us here are JEALOUS of her life??? Lol… I guess most people here have ears and her singing is bad period. I guess it balances out that there will be always be ppl who love/dislike her but don’t call it jealousy. haha lol….

    2. @bella She’s an entertainer. If she is likable and does a good job entertaining, the audience will notice that. Don’t twist the audience’s dissatisfaction into jealousy. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Obviously, majority of us here don’t wish for her comeback. She can keep her fake self to her family.

    3. @bella let me add to why her singing is cringeworthy and unbearable. If you had listened to her recent single written for her daughter, the lyrics are super cliche. Gosh! not to mention, her singing voice is so whining that listening to it one time is good enough. She doesn’t have a powerful voice that can capture an audience. Let me hear it a second time and I’ll puke.

  7. I’m not religious, so I don’t believe in miracles, but I do think she was traumatized enough from that incident to start believing in God. Man, TVB should start offering therapy to their artists. Sounds like a lot of them go through terrible things.

    1. @coralie completely agree. The hours that they work would cause a normal person to go insane and start seeing things. So not surprised some reach out to their faith to help them get by

  8. To all those losers who have criticised Linda, no mater how guys dislike her, she still have a large group of fans who support her, she does not need you guys to like her, haha!!!

    1. @bella To the ‘winner’ who obviously love her and brought her shitty albums and made her popular & famous. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back. You deserve it!!

      1. @wm2017 Hahaha!!! Love you, you are the best, heaps better than Linda Chung! I’m your biggest fan now!! Don’t your parents teach you how to be a better human being in life, not to say things that hurt other people’s feelings, I’m sure that you are extremely happy for attacking other people, keep up with it!! LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU!!!
