Kevin Cheng Will Film “Eye in the Sky” Despite Ligament Injury

Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) will film police thriller Eye in the Sky <天眼> as promised even though he is still nursing a torn ligament.

Kevin suffered from a long string of injuries throughout his acting career. He reportedly sprained his right foot while filming Under the Canopy of Love <天幕下的戀人> in 2005, and twisted his left knee on set Last One Standing <與敵同行> in 2007, causing tears to the ligament. When shooting Mainland series Ip Man <葉問> in 2012, Kevin injured his neck and back while performing the martial arts-heavy scenes, and was once hit in the eye and received ten stitches. He also aggravated the old injury in his right foot, severely tearing the ligament. He has since experienced on-and-off pain and has sought physical therapy to aid the slow recovery process.

Currently resting in Hong Kong, Kevin said on April 14 that he is hopeful that his injuries will completely heal within the next few months. “My right foot’s ligament injury is more severe than I had expected. [My foot] would swell to the size of a small watermelon after just playing sports. The doctor thinks that I should heal completely if I rest for two more months.”

To prevent further injuries, TVB has delayed his action scenes in Eye in the Sky, which is scheduled to begin shooting in May. “I will have no action scenes in the first month. I haven’t received the script so I don’t know how many scenes there will be. However, police crime dramas typically have heavy action such as gun battles and chases, so those will be pushed back to month two.”

Although Kevin has worked with many top TVB artistes in the past, he rarely collaborated with Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Tavia Yeung (楊怡) and finds their upcoming partnership refreshing. He hopes to see a new generation of talent filling TVB’s ranks soon, and believes that working with different artistes will create new sparks and will keep viewers entertained.

    1. That jacket/suit is ……. bright fuchsia in colour …….. WOW!

  1. Ruco is apparently the designated guy for most action series. The bigger question is who else is in the drama outside of Tavia and Kevin? I want to see Vincent Wong!

  2. What’s wrong with the suit? I think it looks great on Kelvin. Well, only because he’s good looking to begin with.

    1. I agree and think Kevin looks nice in that color and suit.

    2. It was for a KFC ad and the ending result was pretty good indeed

      1. Yes. There are more varieties offered by KFC in Hong Kong ………. more dishes in Hong Kong style.

      2. What are those yellow things in the background behind Kevin? Fake blown up fried chicken???

  3. Yes! I thought they got rid of Ruco as a leading man but the fact is that both Ruco and Kevin will lead! And Tavia! Interesting cast and storyline = Must watch for me!

  4. he looks aged in this photo. However, looking forward to eye in the sky!!

hope theres more info soon. i also want vincent wong!

  5. Not sure about the colour pink but this man embraces colour in his fashion choices.

  6. hi there

    1. kevin is handsome and smart looking.
    2. but that color, hahaha!
    3. it would be a great team with kevin, ruco and travia.

    1. fresh new combo to watch. favourite characters to watch

  7. Seems an awful kind of pink to me but I suppose it’s all right for an ad as it’s certainly eye catching.

Looking forward to seeing him acting and speaking his own lingo, Cantonese.

Sounds dreadful, those injuries of his, especially torn ligaments as they take time to heal. Hope they do by the time the series begins.

  8. That color suit is too bright for Kevin. I think Kevin looks really good in red suit that he had wore in the past award events.

I’m looking forward Eye in the Sky with great acting from Ruco, Tavia, and Kevin!!

  9. i can’t wait!! Kevin and Tavia again after waiting for so long!!! 🙂 and also still rooting for Tavia and Ruco, but i like Kevin more heh

  10. Get well soon Kevin since your health is more important than work and money.

It is great to see him work with Tavia and Ruco since I do not think I remember seeing them act together before. But another police crime series?? TVB seems to be making way too many of those lately. When will they ever make a good old ancient series again???

    1. but there’s really no incentive for tvb to make ancient series anyway. if they need to, they can always buy the rights to the popular mainland ancient series and broadcast those instead.

      1. True but it is also good for them to make their own as well. By not doing so, they are truly showing something about their company and it honestly is not good. I think it means they are lazy and cheap which are not good things at all.

  11. wow…………………another injury for kevin cheng
OMG………seriously how many did he got injured
    ????

  12. This series is different from other thrillers because it focuses on CCTV, something that TXB has not touched on very much. I think it’ll explore about privacy rights or whehter using CCTV is necessary. Pretty interesting indeed!

  13. Is he wearing pink pants as well huh! Pink suits him I suppose n hes kinda fair-skinned, rite!!

  14. I am so happy to see Tavia finally signed the contract with TVB. Cannot wait to see her pair up with Kevin or Ruco in “天眼”. Hopefully, she will be the only female lead.

  15. looking forward to this new drama, love both of them 🙂

  16. Not keen to see another Ruco drama, but looking forward to seeing Kevin + Tavia !

  17. Swelling to a size of a small watermelon? …embellishment at its finest…I had an extreme sprain on my left ankle and swelling was the size of a tangerine or small orange but definitely not a small watermelon unless it was still growing on a vine 3-5 inch or 8-12 cm (half of its circumference).

  18. Thanks, Xiaomei. By that time I hope most of his injuries would have healed sufficiently for him to run around again!

  19. does anyone know what kinda role tavia will be portraying?
