Netizens Curious About Aaron Kwok’s HKFA Acceptance Speech

Newly crowned Film King Aaron Kwok (郭富城) got some netizens curious when he delivered his Best Actor acceptance speech at the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards, which was held last Sunday.

On stage, the Port of Call <踏血尋梅> actor said he did not expect to win and wasn’t prepared to deliver a speech. However, the 50-year-old did not forget to thank his family and manager, Siu Mei (小美), for supporting him through the years.

While touched by Aaron’s humble speech, many netizens got curious when he mentioned that he should also thank those who treated him badly. “Because of you guys, I know I must strive to improve myself,” said Aaron.

Netizens assumed that Aaron could have been referring to Director Stanley Tong (唐季禮), who collaborated with Aaron in the 2000 action film China Strike Force <雷霆戰警>. According to rumors at the time, Aaron and Stanley fought on set and immediately severed their ties after the film’s release.

In regards to this, Aaron’s manager Siu Mei said, “Aaron had some unhappy experiences. He was referring to those people who had misunderstood and wronged him. He was just speaking his feelings. But this all happened in the past. Let’s not ask who. It really isn’t Director Tong. Lessons were learned. Everything that happened was a learning experience for Aaron. He is thankful to everyone who molded him into the person he is today.”

Turned off by her materialistic needs, rumors say that Aaron broke up with girlfriend, Chinese model Moka Fang (方媛). Siu Mei said she will not respond to baseless reports.
