Raymond Lam’s Horror Film “Baby Blues 3D” Opens on Halloween

Real-life celebrity couple Raymond Lam (林峯) and Karena Ng (吳千語) will be starring in their first movie together, but surprisingly, not as a couple. Leong Po Chih’s (梁普智) upcoming horror flick Baby Blues 3D <詭嬰吉咪> is slated for a release in mainland China this coming Halloween, on October 31.

The 3D film is about a young couple encountering a series of strange events after moving into their new home. The wife (rookie actress Janelle Sing 盛君) is pregnant with twins, but suffers a miscarriage and gives birth to only one child. Showing signs of odd behavior and postpartum depression, her musician husband (Raymond Lam) seeks help, and discovers a mysterious doll that may be the source of their problems.

The mysterious doll was said to be a “jimi” – a haunted baby doll that enjoys creating havoc wherever it goes. According to executive producer Zhang Zhao (張昭), the idea of the haunted jimi during Halloween came about around 300 years ago – rumors say that a baby was left abandoned in the streets by its parents, and a haunting doll spirit took form of the baby in its abandonment. It has been said that the jimi appears every 60 years; the last reported appearance of the jimi was in 1953.

Zhang expressed that the jimi is not evil per say, but just a lonely spirit who longs for affection and attention from others.

Produced by mainland China’s Heng Ye Films and distributed by Le Vision Pictures, Baby Blues 3D also stars Kate Tsui (徐子珊), Lo Hoi Pang (盧海鵬), Irene Wan (温碧霞), Yu Bo (于波) and Karena Ng, who will star as Janelle’s younger sister.
