Tiffany Tang Fulfills Flight Attendant Dream in “For Love or Money”

The romantic movie, For Love or Money <露水紅顏>, which stars Rain and Crystal Liu (劉亦菲), opened in theaters on November 7. Supporting actress Tiffany Tang (唐嫣), who plays the female lead’s closest friend, recently opened up in an interview about her costars, her dream of becoming a flight attendant, and her views on love versus money.

In Beauty’s Dew <紅顔露水>, the Zhang Xiaoxian (張小嫻) novel on which the movie is based, the narrative is told from the point of view of Ming Zhen, Tiffany’s character in For Love or Money. As an observer, Ming Zhen witnesses the trials and tribulations undergone by her flight attendant friend, Xing Lu (Crystal Liu), who is caught between the affections of a poor artist (Rain) and her wealthy ex-boyfriend.

Having previously starred in the drama Women on the Breadfruit Tree <麵包樹上的女人>, which was also adapted from a story by Zhang Xiaoxian, Tiffany shared that she was drawn to the role of Ming Zhen because the character is very genuine. “She genuinely considers the needs of her friend, genuinely comforts her, and is genuinely trustworthy,” said Tiffany. “When her good friend is sad, she will cry with her and go drinking with her.”

Another reason Tiffany wanted to film For Love or Money was because she would be able to portray a flight attendant. “If I hadn’t become an actress,” she confided, “I would probably be a flight attendant right now. I majored in flight attendance before I got into the Central Academy of Drama. During filming, I got so excited just from putting on the flight attendant uniform.”

Tiffany also heaped praises upon her costars, especially Crystal Liu, whom she had always thought was the “fairy-like older sister” type. “I realized that she’s actually quite amusing, and she doesn’t act like she’s above everyone else at all,” said Tiffany. “She’s very hard-working when filming – you can sense how stubborn she is.”

As for Rain, Tiffany stated that she was a fan of his Korean drama Full House <浪漫滿屋>, which aired in 2004. She also shared that, like all other Korean actors with whom she has collaborated, Rain was very courteous and would always bow whenever they met.

Since For Love or Money brings up the relationship between romance and riches, Tiffany was asked about her take on which was more important. “I’m someone who loves very deeply once I love,” she said. “A good material foundation will lead to a more stable life, and in other people’s eyes, your happiness may be increased.

“However, in my eyes, it’s most important to have love,” she continued. “Being or not being happy has nothing to do with having or not having money.”
