Ali Lee To Play Female Lead In TVB’s “Legal Strongman”
Although yet to be confirmed by TVB, it appears that former Cable TV host Ali Lee (李佳芯) will be the female lead in the station’s upcoming drama Legal Strongman <律政強人>, a dark legal drama starring Alex Fong Chung-sun (方中信) and Liu Kai-chi (廖啟智). Produced by Marco Law (羅永賢), the series will begin principal photography this December.
A teaser trailer for Legal Strongman was first shown at the 2016 TVB Sales Presentation on November 10. In the trailer, Alex Fong plays a conflicting lawyer who stops at nothing to fight for justice, while Liu Kai-chi depicts a defense attorney who is willing to do anything to win a case, even to the point of destroying evidence and murder. Ali Lee portrays Alex’s pupil, who strongly believes that her duty as a lawyer is to fight for what’s true and right.
Also seen in the trailer is Mandy Wong (黃智雯), who portrays another lawyer; Raymond Cho (曹永廉), portraying Liu Kai-chi’s pupil; and 2012 Miss Chinese International winner Kelly Cheung (張曦雯), who will be making her serial drama debut through Legal Strongman.
Ali, a former television presenter for Cable TV, signed with TVB in 2012 at around the same time as Tony Hung (洪永城) and Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), both who also worked for Cable TV before joining TVB. It is said that all three artistes were recommended to TVB through executive Sandy Yu (余詠珊).
Ali came to the public’s attention through her first TVB work Sidewalk Scientist <學是學非>, an informative program cohosted by Leung Ka Ki (梁嘉琪) and Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎). She then went on to star in a number of TVB dramas, mainly in supporting roles as the lead actor’s “mistress.” Her most recent appearance in TVB anniversary drama Under the Veil <無雙譜>, although brief, caught netizens’ attention.
The 32-year-old currently has four television dramas lined up for 2016—besides Legal Strongman, she also has Fashion War <潮流教主>, Brother’s Keeper II <巨輪II>, and Watch Out Boss <波士早晨>. Although still considered as a “third line” TVB artiste, Ali has a large following online, and her lead role in Legal Strongman may push her to fadan status.

Idk who she is nor remember her in UtV. If this is true, then I pity Mandy Wong. Yet another supporting role dor her in an ‘noisy’ series. Her lead with Chin Kar Loc was her firsy, and her last I guess. Sad.
Glad TVB is promoting Ali Lee at last. She was very good in Overachievers as Ivy last year.
From the sales promo she has a heavy role and opposite 2 veterans.

In my opinion, think she is quite versatile with caliber that does not try too hard. Yet has pretty look too.
Wow so sudden. Saw her in Overachiever and thought she did good as supporting actress but lead? TVB would try anything nowadays huh. Poor Mandy…she’s not a bad actress but just not lucky in her career maybe?
mandy wong is not bad. why isn’t she given an opportunity to play lead?
How can you be morally conflicting and yet go all out for justice? Isn’t that a conflicting statement?
And the plot sounds same old same old. Can’t it be more like Law & Order where lawyers go about their jobs professionally without wanting to win so bad they murder someone. Come on! No amount of money will encourage the lawyer to do that, not even winning alone, unless it is his own liberty and a hundred million dollars in the mix. If not, the series is not only unrealistic but exceedingly boring.
Give Liu KaiChi a better material! Come on!
