Fala Chen Flies with Daughter for Work
After getting married to IT entrepreneur Emmanuel Straschnov in 2019, Fala Chen (陳法拉) surprised fans on Valentine’s Day when she announced the birth of her daughter. As a new mother, Fala finds a balance between her work and family and takes her daughter on filming trips.
Recently, Fala posted a photo of her daughter’s first airplane ride on her Instagram page with the following caption, “First trip, she behaved very well! This is the first time she accompanied Mommy to film. She was so well-behaved on the airplane and she didn’t cry!”
Transition to Hollywood
Prior to starting her acting career, Fala was born in Sichuan and emigrated to Atlanta with her parents when she was 14 years old. As a studious student, Fala graduated high school with top 10 grades of her class and received a scholarship to study Marketing and International Business at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
In 2005, Fala won runner-up in the Miss Chinese International Pageant and began her career as an actress under TVB. Although Fala was initially criticized for her stiff acting, she worked hard to finetune her skills and eventually left TVB to pursue a four-year Master of Fine Arts in Drama at The Juilliard School in New York.
Fala’s dedication to her acting career opened up new opportunities in Hollywood as the 39-year-old actress found a minor role in HBO miniseries The Undoing. In addition, Fala will be making an appearance in Marvel’s upcoming movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
