Fala Chen Placed on the Sidelines in TVB Lighting Ceremony
Every year, TVB marks the entry into Anniversary season with the lighting ceremony. The standing position of its artists at the prominent event often signifies which artists are heavily promoted by TVB that year. After failing to renew her TVB contract, which expired in May, Fala Chen (陳法拉) was noticeably sidelined at this year’s lighting ceremony.
Accompanied by 2013 Miss Hong Kong winners Grace Chan (陳凱琳), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) and Moon Lau (劉佩玥), TVB Chairman Norman Leung (梁乃鵬) kick-started the event. This year’s ceremony focused on promoting The Hippocratic Crush 2 <On Call 36小時II>, Will Power <法外風雲> and Brother’s Keeper <巨輪>. The cast from the dramas wore their costumes and were placed in the front line.
Although Fala was also placed in the first line because of her role in Will Power, she stood to the side, away from costars Moses Chan (陳豪) and Wayne Lai (黎耀祥).
Did Fala mind standing at the side since her contract with TVB ended? “No, an artist’s job is to promote for the new series. Signing a contract is a big event in life. Right now, I want to be able to choose my work freely. Plus, Wayne received an award in the past without being under a management contract. This year, I’m rooting for Sam (Francis Ng 吳鎮宇).”
Regarding her standing position towards the side, Fala took it in her stride. “It’s a small matter! We had fun. I will still be back to promote the drama (Will Power) before I go on leave.”
Regarding the rumor that TVB tried to use the TV Queen title to entice Fala to return, she said, “There’s no such thing. Awards and contract are two different matters anyway.” Fala admitted that she is currently working with Kelly Chen’s (陳慧琳) manager, Chung Chun (鍾珍) and will reveal the details at a later time.
After promoting Will Power, Fala left the ceremony before it concluded to attend other work. Fala was not part of the official group photo that was taken at the end. She said, “I’ve informed the company I had to leave early beforehand.” Fala’s position was quickly replaced by Grace Chan in the official group photos.
Working together in an upcoming travel program, Three Men on a Trip <三個小生去旅行>, 81-year-old Wu Fung (胡楓) and 77-year-old Patrick Tse (謝賢) also made rare appearances in the ceremony.

That is life. Fala Chen will surely accept her current status/position in TVB. She understands it.
The highlight of the lighting ceremony for me were:
1. Fred singing
2. Wu Fung and patrick tse’s appearance
everything else was borderline boring.
Yes Wu Fung and Patrick Tse, absolute highlight. I think their travel show will be worth watching. Hopefully it’ll be funny

Agree. Fala was there to fulfill her obligation, she may not care where her position was in front of camera. Reporters tried to make it a big deal, since part of their job is to make headlines.

On the bright side, she is still in the front row. TVB TVB, gone with the old days where they actually cared about the quality while they were producing. Now a days, yeah, I don’t even think their top fadans and siu sangs think much of the #1 title. It’s like who is the best out of the worst right now.

Who does not have minor plastic surgery among the top five fadans? Probably just Linda Chung only, but she isn’t very pretty anyway.
