Feminist Film “Her Story” Announces Star-Studded Ensemble Cast

New posters have dropped for one of 2021’s most anticipated films of the year, and it’s a big one (literally).

Her Story <世間有她> is an ensemble film made by three award-winning female directors—Taiwanese director Sylvia Chang (張艾嘉), Chinese director Li Shaohong (李少紅), and Chinese American director Joan Chen (陳沖). Set to premiere in 2021, Her Story is told in a distinctive female voice, and follows the lives of ordinary women as they learn how to physically and emotionally cope with the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

It stars an ensemble cast including Zhou Xun (周迅), Jackson Yee (易烊千璽), Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文), Xu Di (許娣), Stephen Fung (馮德倫), Bai Ke (百客), Huang Miyi (黃米依), and Nina Paw (鮑起靜). From current idols to older idols, to award-winning actresses to veteran stars, Her Story has one of the most diverse cast in Chinese cinema.

The film explores the hardships and courage that women go through as they experience various setbacks in their careers, family, and love lives. Each director gets to share their own distinctive experiences through their diverse story telling.

Her Story also offers a perspective in the role of men as they learn how to grow and thrive alongside today’s women.

  1. I never knew a movie about the pandemic can also be a feminist story. Kinda strange way to introduce this movie.
