G.E.M. Writes New Song For Coronavirus Outbreak Heroes

As the coronavirus rages on, people are wary about their health and struggling to get their hands on face masks. So when a man dropped off 500 masks at a Lu’an police station in the Anhui Province before running off hurriedly, the security footage of the selfless gesture went viral. Since the police officers didn’t get a chance to properly thank him, they saluted him from afar as his silhouette faded into the distance. This heart-warming story spread on the Internet and moved a lot of people, including singer G.E.M. (鄧紫棋).

The kind act inspired G.E.M. to write a song titled “Angels” <平凡天使>, which is dedicated to every “ordinary angel.” The starlet expressed, “He just wanted to help out during this difficult time without asking for a reward or praise.”

Likewise, the stories of farmers riding 40 kilometers to deliver food to the medical team, a Wuhan couple delivering meals to the hospital around the clock, and a youngster who bought the last box of masks sharing it with the neighborhood all deeply moved her.

“Even though you don’t think you can do much for the overall situation, but the actions you deem as ‘insignificant’ can actually bring more warmth to this world,” G.E.M. said.

Since the MV was uploaded onto Weibo and YouTube on February 2, it has accumulated over 15.99 million views on Weibo and more than 1.7 million views on YouTube. Many netizens left messages to share this song moved them to tears. Some praised G.EM.’s talent and ability to write such a touching song.
