How to Train Like Him Law

Known for his muscular physique, Him Law (羅仲謙) makes sure to set aside a time for his gym routine every single day. Though the 33-year-old actor is busy with work—including promotions for his film The Monkey King 3 <西遊記女兒國>, TV drama Infernal Affairs <無間道>, and preparations for an upcoming Chinese film this May—Him makes sure to hit the gym every single day without fail.

“I will try to go everyday if I can,” said Him. “It’s usually only one hour a day, but within that hour, I have to focus completely on the workout. I even lock my phone in the locker.”

Him would try out different routines each time, and would focus on working out the core muscles, including the quadriceps (thighs), shoulder muscles, back muscles, chest muscles, the biceps, and the triceps. “I usually work on these six groups, in a cycle. A different set every day.”

The Infernal Affairs actor also gladly offered some tips on how to build up bulging biceps. “The biceps are actually involved in many everyday activities, but it’s separated into two heads. Because of that, some may find it challenging to train them both equally. Working out from the bottom to the middle, or from the middle to the top, or lying down or sitting up, it all gives different results. I usually train them with a weight machine, with about 6-7 sets of 10-15 reps each.”

A perfect workout comes with a perfect diet. A well-known Hollywood superstar diet may include ingesting a few pounds of boiled eggs or cutting out starches completely. For Him, he said he was never put into such strict diet restrictions. “I never had the need to cut out anything, though I do avoid eating fatty foods. Other than that, I typically eat pretty much anything. For my body type, I need to eat more protein in order to build more muscle. I usually eat a lot of rice and noodles. My trainer has told me that I can eat pretty much anything, as I need to consume more.”

Him’s goal was never to be the actor with the best physique, but to stay healthy and firm. “You must have patience, because results don’t come overnight. When I look at my older picture, I am actually not very impressed with how I looked. Now that I’m with a new trainer, I can train into the perfect physique I wanted. I’m still not there yet. Maybe in about half a year.”

    i always think that there’s always another goal once you reach your target. getting there is a challenge, so is maintenance. that’s why staying in shape is a lifestyle not some diet trend. i think nancy wu should share some of her secrets on staying so slim. i bet that does not include starving oneself. young girls these days could benefit from that

      @m0m0 She may not be starving herself but she is definitely in a diet everyday to stay slim.

    Him used to have amateur bodybuilder physique. Guess HK wasn’t too receptive of that so he has chosen to become slim and toned instead.
