Katy Kung is Not Interested in Dating
Rising in popularity with her latest role in Death By Zero <殺手>, actress Katy Kung (龔嘉欣) recently sat down for an interview to share her thoughts on her current priorities, perspective on dating, and drastic transformation for her role. She expressed her determination in winning Best Actress and emphasized that acting is her main priority as of now. Unlike her close friends, the 30-year-old has no intention to date or to build a family because she doesn’t have enough time to juggle so many commitments.
Entering the entertainment industry at the age of 16, Katy has come a long way from her modeling and hosting days. With a great passion for acting, the actress knows what she wants and is eager to achieve her goals one day. She said, “I am currently enjoying my work-life balance very much. Being able to do what I like and having different kinds of identities.”
When asked if she hopes to focus on her hotpot business someday, she responded, “To be honest, running a hotpot business is just a hobby. When I have time, I will focus on it a bit more, but being an actress comes first. The others are just part-time work where I can improve on myself.”
Too Busy to Date
Although Katy is the only member of “The Housewife Alliance” who has yet to marry and have children, Katy does not feel pressured to follow the same path. “I’m not very interested in dating at the moment, but I believe I will be as passionate as I am with work once I find the right person,” Katy shared.
Consumed with work commitments and always prepared for potential career opportunities, Katy added that she doesn’t have the time to date. “It is not a hard matter, but I always approach every relationship with an everlasting goal and mindset. I need to contemplate seriously and invest a lot of time to understand the other person and see if we share the same values,” she expressed. “I can say right now that I am choosing to be single. Work is my priority.”
Challenges are Rewarding
Hoping to win Best Actress one day, Katy is open to taking on challenging roles like her Dark Angel character in Death by Zero. Encouraged by the same producer who entrusted her with the mother role in Two Steps From Heaven <幕後玩家>, Katy accepted the challenge to shed her gentle image and play a wild and fierce assassin. Not only did she shock viewers but also herself with the drastic transformation, making it one of her most unforgettable roles yet.
“Honestly, I didn’t think of challenging myself, but I agreed to the offer without a thought. I feel that at this stage, I am in the right condition where I can try different kinds of characters. With the positive reception gained from this performance, it proved that every aspect of Dark Angel was indeed worth challenging,” Katy said.
