Mickey Huang Gets Divorced

In 2023, Taiwanese entertainer Mickey Huang (黃子佼) became embroiled in the #MeToo sexual harassment controversy. Later, it was discovered he possessed explicit videos involving minors, for which he was sentenced to eight months in prison and fined 100,000 New Taiwan dollars. He is currently still in the process of negotiating settlements with the victims.

Despite public criticism, Mickey’s wife Summer Meng (孟耿如), continued to stand by him. After the scandal erupted in June 2023, Summer continued to share daily life updates on social media and even posted smiling photos with her husband which sparked public backlash. Many accused Summer of trying to pave the way for Mickey’s comeback. She later apologized, clarifying Mickey would not return to the entertainment industry and announced she would indefinitely shut down her social media accounts. There were also rumors Mickey had offered Summer NT$100 million as a settlement to prevent her from divorcing him within three years.

However, on May 21, news broke the couple had divorced and officially ended their five-year marriage. According to Taiwanese media reports, the couple allegedly succumbed to financial stress and societal pressure and quietly completed their divorce proceedings. Their names are no longer listed in the spouse column of each other’s ID cards. Summer’s management team and Mickey’s mentor Chang Hsiao Yen (張小燕) have yet to comment.

Reports say that custody of the child will go to Summer, while Mickey will be responsible for child support. When asked directly about the divorce, Mickey’s lawyer did not deny it but stated, “It’s not my place to speak on their behalf. Right now, their main focus is settling matters regarding their child.”
