Moses Chan’s Wholesome Image Drives Lucrative Income

Last year, it was rumored that Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) approached TVB asking for a raise to bring him in line with Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) who was making $5 million Hong Kong dollars annually. The media quickly followed up and reported on rumored salaries of other first line actors, and Moses Chan (陳豪) topped the list thanks to his wholesome image.

Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) allegedly made HK$3 million; Vincent Wong (王浩信) made HK$6 million; and Kenneth Ma (馬國明) made HK$8 million. Renewing his contract in 2019, Moses Chan (陳豪) made a staggering HK$30 million which makes him the highest paid artiste in TVB!

Netizens are curious why Moses is the highest paid employee over the other actors. Online opinions conclude that there are four big reasons why Moses commands such a high salary, mainly due to his good acting skills, wholesome image, professionalism, and love for his wife Aimee Chan (陳茵媺).

A comment stated, “TVB is not stupid; they must pay Moses this salary because he can bring in even more profit! He can act, has a great image, and also no negative news.”

Another netizen pointed out that Moses became famous during TVB’s golden era, and has taken part in many large productions and Anniversary dramas. He is also from the same era as Bowie Lam (林保怡), Gigi Lai (黎姿), and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), giving him a bigger influence in the Chinese market.

Married happily with three children, Moses is open about his love for his wife. Other leading TVB actors’ images do not come close. Vincent had cheating rumors, and seems to have a cold relationship with his wife Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤). Despite Kenneth’s affable image, he seems to have “cold feet” towards marriage. When he was dating Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎), he was dragging his feet and did not want to get married. He finally agreed to settle down after dating Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯) for two years.

Another netizen believes that Moses may not actually make a base salary of HK$30 million, but rather this is accumulative of his salary, endorsement, and public event earnings. They also praised him for being professional and not picky about his advertisements, as he was even willing to film a commercial for a hair regrowth company.

  1. If Moses annual income is true then he truly deserve it, he is very talented and a versatile actor. Aimee is really lucky to have him as her husband

  2. I think he deserves it. He’s pretty much TVB’s only A list male actor. Ruco, who would probably be second after him, isn’t on the same level. After that, it’s just a bunch of mediocre guys like Kenneth, Joel, Edwin, etc.

  3. This was not something new. Many years back Bob (or was it Wong Cholam) made a parody/jest clip about Moses taking up all the available advertisers. Moses was already advertisers popular choice when he dated Bernice Liu.
