Nnadia Chan Returns to Hong Kong to Record New Album

On Saturday night, Nnadia Chan (陳松伶), Natalis Chan (陳百祥), Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗), Eliza Sam (岑麗香), and Toby Chan (陳庭欣) attended a press conference for the Yan Oi Tong charity event. The celebrity guests performed a song together and encouraged the viewers to donate to charity.

Beauty pageant winners Rebecca Zhu and Toby Chan did a catwalk show while wearing million-dollar jewelry. Wearing a low-cut tight red dress, Toby Chan attracted the most attention that night. Toby said, “My company arranged me to wear this dress. Originally, I was supposed to wear another less-revealing one, but that dress was too loose-fitting, so they chose this one instead.”

TVB goddess Eliza Sam was also one of the catwalk models that night. She expressed that she hopes to earn enough money in the future to buy jewelry for her mother.

Former TVB actress, Nnadia Chan, revealed that she has recently been living in Shanghai with her husband. In the last few days, Nnadia returned to Hong Kong to record a studio album, which will consist of her covers of many popular Cantopop hits from the 1980s and 1990s, including Leslie Cheung’s (張國榮) The Wind Continues to Blow <風繼續吹> and Sally Yeh’s (葉蒨文) 12:10 AM <零時十分>.

In the late 1980s, “Heavenly King” Leon Lai (黎明) and Nnadia were one of the most popular onscreen couples in Hong Kong television. Regarding the singer’s recent divorce with his model wife, Gaile Lok (樂基兒), Nnadia said it was unfortunate, and revealed that she has not been in contact with Leon in a long time.

  1. I’ve always thought Nadia and Ekin were the classic pairing.

The term “goddess” has been used loosely lately. Stop!

    1. Honestly.. I dont think Eliza looks anything near goddess at all. too overrated and agree with you.

    2. They should have used it more when Sonija Kwok just joined TVB. Or when Gigi Lai was in her prime.

      1. B/c they didn’t have the term home boys back then. Boys read comic books and played sports instead of staying on the Internet and playing video games all day.

      2. Actually, Gigi has been called “Goddess” in the 90s. But, the media didn’t make a big deal out of it.

    3. That’s what I thought too. I don’t even know which dramas she’d worked with Leon on.

  2. Iirc, Nadia and Leon has only paired up once in ‘Songbird’. I remember there was news that both were inexperienced back then and couldn’t film the kissing scene convincingly using the ‘borrowing angle’ method, so, Leon kissed her for real, which upset Nadia. After that Nadia didn’t want to film with Leon anymore. But, they have made up years later when Leon specially attended ‘Jade Solid Gold’ because Nadia was hosting it.

    1. Leon was very hot back then. I wouldn’t mind him kisssing me hehe

      1. Nadia was very prudish in her younger days. Beside refusing to kiss for real, she also refused to wear swimsuit onscreen. She was a staunch Christian and studied Theology.

I remember liking her stand in this matter back then. 😀

      2. ^ i liked her for this reason too! she was so pure and innocent back then, a true “jade girl”!!

      3. Kidd:

Then do u approve of fala not wanting to film kiss scenes?

      4. By giving conditions, you limit your choice of roles. If you’re prepared to limit your choice of roles, then so be it. But if you bemoan of lack of opportunities for other wide ranging roles, then maybe the conditions need to be altered a bit.

      5. @ Josie

“Then do u approve of fala not wanting to film kiss scenes?”

I have never objected to that. I was actually one of the few who defended her decision not to kiss in CBML. 😛

      6. I think romance can be portrayed convincingly without kissing in ancient series but not in modern. I’m still confused about when Fala said she didn’t want to kiss? She kissed Michael Tse in LOO. But for Fala, she’s a bit of a cold dish in her romance scenes, so even with kissing, I don’t think she convey much romantic feelings. I actually believe she was much more passionate in her older series.

    2. Kidd,
In the 1990s, a lot of kissing scenes were faked through camera angles. While the passion was not acted out, the chemistry between the characters were still able to involve the audiences.

I don’t remember the kissing scene between Leon and Nnadia in “Songbird”. I loved her method of confessing her love to him through her diary thoughts though. I didn’t like “Songbird” when it was first released.

I admit that I am a greater Deric Wan fan than Leon Lai in those days and was pretty upset when Deric played second fiddle to Leon in “The Breaking Point.”

      1. Jayne,

It’s interesting that Deric has never paired up with Nadia in series, but, they have dueted numerous times. In fact, in Deric was Nadia’s only duet partner in her first few albums. The duet songs in ‘Songbirds’ and ‘Beside the Seaside Beside the Sea’ were all sung by Deric, even though at that time both Leon and Ekin were already singers in their own right.

      2. Kidd,
Deric and Nnadia sang several duets together because they belonged to the same music company. It was due to their music contracts that Nnadia did not have any duets with Leon and Ekin.

I think Nnadia was very strong principled, including being a bit unforgiving towards her mother in her youth, in which it took many years to forgive her.

      3. I did like Nnadia pairing with Ekin though, from “Zu Mountain Saga” to “92 Chung Mo Yeem”. In those days, Nnadia’s screen presence out-shined Ekin though.

      4. Today, there are more kiss scenes to compensate for the lack of chemistry, which doesn’t really help, IMO. Something is still missing…

      5. Because of the chemistry thing perhaps?

TVB has yet to do a decent kissing scene that doesn’t look like 2 fish puffing air into one another or 2 fish fighting for something between the mouth. Or 2 cars on a collision course and then collides.

There are some good nice romantic kisses but far and few in between.

      6. TVB (actors) series have never been good at kissing skills. And there are generally very little of them as well.

  3. glad to see Nnadia happy amd beautiful, alway support Nn.

  4. how come TVB doesn’t ask her to come back…Nnadia? She was really great in her time…and I think she’s still very pretty.

    1. She came back once, and was in a series with Kevin, and they kiss xD I love that series, and I love her, I think I like Kevin through that series as well

  5. Have not heard about Nadia in many years so am glad to hear about her. Really miss seeing her sing and act…

  6. Is it me or does Nnadia Chan looks a little like Tracy Yip?

  7. wow Nadia looks heaps better than Linda and she’s like what, 40.

    1. Nadia looks old. Come on! Linda still looks fresh, especially for someone working non stop.

      1. Her face looks too bony which ages her. If she gained a fuller face, I think she would look much younger.

  8. haven’t seen nadia for so long. i remembered her series with leon lai.

  9. I like all Nnadia’s series especially songbird with Leon; Instinct, Mark of Triumph, and The Zu Mountain Saga II with Ekin; Cold Blood Warm Heart with Chilam; Once Upon a Time in Shanghai with Sunny; To Love with Love with Wayne and Timmy Ho; Happy Ever After with Kong Wah; etc….

  10. I don’t remember about the kissing scene in Songbird that Nnadia acted with Leon. When Nnadia was in TVB in the late 80’s and early 90’s, she did not have any kissing scenes until Happy Ever After in 1999 and so on.

  11. Nnadia looks like Sonija in the above picture. I love Nnadia!
