Raymond Lam and Karena Ng Go On a Category III Movie Date
The three-week trip to Tokyo, Okinawa, and Milan is just not enough for Raymond Lam (林峯) and his BB, Karena Ng (吳千語). On the midnight of March 3, Raymond was snapped taking Karena to the movies at The Grand Cinema in Kowloon Station. Along with a male friend, Raymond and Karena went to watch the Category III film, Movie 43.
Karena carried a black Valentino Rockstud leather shoulder bag, which was reportedly a gift Raymond bought for her when they were in Milan.
To avoid the big crowd, Raymond, Karena, and their male friend arrived at the cinemas a few minutes before the movie started. The trio rushed to the theater after Raymond purchased the tickets. Karena stopped by the concession stand and wanted to buy some snacks, but Raymond quickly grabbed her and whispered, “The movie is starting!”
Rated R for its crude content, graphic nudity, language, and violence, Movie 43 is an American black comedy film that features the directing of twelve different directors and a large ensemble of over 20 famous Hollywood actors. An American R rating is almost equivalent to a Category III rating in Hong Kong, in which only persons of 18 years and over is admitted to watch.
At 19 years old, Karena is finally eligible to watch the film in theaters.
The film ended at approximately 1:30 in the morning. Due the influx of moviegoers, Raymond and Karena chose not to hold hands to attract attention, but kept side by side as they parted out of the theater. The smiling Karena and Raymond were talkative, but after realizing the paparazzi was present, Raymond’s face grew stern and alerted Karena and their friend of the situation.
Raymond did not look annoyed and smiled at the paparazzi. However, the 33-year-old actor chose not to respond to the reporters’ questions and quickly left for the parking lot with Karena and their friend.
Their friend drove the couple back to Raymond’s penthouse apartment in Mid-Level’s Dynasty Court. Raymond did not leave the flat until 1:30 PM the next day, but soon returned home after two hours of working.
Raymond Wong Upset with Karena’s Romance?
Karena debuted under the management of Raymond Wong’s (黃百鳴) Pegasus Motion Pictures and starred in the fantasy film, Magic to Win <開心魔法>, at 17 years old. According to tabloid reports, Raymond Wong was impressed with Karena’s talent and convinced her previous modeling agency, Starz People, to “jointly manage” Karena. The actress is currently co-managed by mainland China’s EE-Media and Starlit Artist Management, a company established by Raymond Wong’s son, Edmond Wong (黃子桓).
As Raymond Wong went to great lengths to recruit Karena under his flag, the film producer is allegedly disappointed at Raymond and Karena’s publicized relationship. It is reported that he has now diverted the company’s resources to promote upcoming star, 22-year-old Janelle Sing (盛君).
Raymond Lam and Karena’s upcoming horror film, Baby Blues 3D <詭眼3D>, is scheduled for a July 2013 release. It has been said that Raymond Wong decided to bench Karena from doing Baby Blues promotions and reduce the actress’ screen time in the film.
Raymond Wong clarified in a phone interview, “There is still some time left, and we are still arranging the film’s promotions.”
It has also been said that Raymond Wong did not even consider casting Karena in his upcoming period mystery film Wesely <衛斯理>, a film adaptation based on the best-selling detective series written by of Ni Kuang (倪匡). As Raymond Lam is booked to star in the film, Raymond Wong was asked if he avoided hiring Karena as a result of Raymond Lam’s casting. Raymond Wong said, “Everything is very preliminary. We still don’t know what story we’re going to do yet.”
