Raymond Wong and Raymond Cho’s Close Relationship

Actors Raymond Wong (黃浩然) and Raymond Cho (曹永廉) promoted their latest TVB series, Overachievers<名門暗戰>, on a radio program recently. Having collaborated in many acting projects in the past, the two costars easily found chemistry on the set.

Raymond Wong expressed that he would normally practice his dialogue with his costars before filming begins, but he did not need to do so with Raymond Cho. Instead, the two friends would go straight into filming, and then point out what they find to be insufficient in each other’s performances. Raymond Cho would never hold back his criticism on Raymond Wong’s performance since they are good friends. Raymond Wong added that it is important to consider suggestions given by others, regardless if that person is a senior or junior. “In order to improve, you must open up your attitude,” he said.

Earlier, Raymond Wong was diagnosed with Behçet’s disease, a rare autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation throughout the body. As a result, Raymond Wong had to turn down TVB’s Captain of Destiny <張保仔> and stay at home to recuperate. “I’m doing a lot better now,” Raymond assured. “I’m okay. I’ve gained weight now. I’ve also been taking a lot of Chinese medicine to improve my immune system.”

Raymond Cho laughed at Raymond Wong’s response, “So there was no point in training your body to be so big after all.”

Raymond Wong said he has realized how important it is to stay healthy. A job can be replaced, but family cannot. He learned to value time spent with his wife and two sons more.

Speaking about his recently opened cafe, Raymond Cho said he has wanted to be a restaurant owner at a young age. His elder brother was one of his influences,“My brother opened his own restaurant. He wanted to open another one, and gave that opportunity to me,” he said. Raymond Cho expressed that he does not have a business mind, but learned a lot since opening his restaurant. He is happy to see his business doing well.

  1. I like this series. I like Nancy and Power Chan relationship. Power is funny. Why did Nancy think there something going on between Hugo and aB? I hope Nancy and Power will end up together.

    1. Came out of nowhere for me too! I mean she never really see them together and close and all that. Maybe it is edited out, some specific scenes.

    2. Maybe it’s in that one year gap.
Don’t u all think when Hugo confessed with Man with all the snow and horse, AhB reactions is a little weird?
As if she is bitter/upset seeing that?

And yes!! I super love Power performance in here!!
Gosh! He always get such “intellectual” character to play!!
I first like him in Lethal Weapon of Love+Passion!
He played the role of Bosco “Little si fu”
He is so funny yet so smart like he is in this drama!

    3. I hope that Nancy will end up With Raymond(Man and Hugo). Indeed I like Power’s acting and character but I think the pairing of Man and Hugo is better. But I think that Hugo will end up with Bi? The opening song before the drama plays have some cut of scenes from the show and I saw Hugo and Bi’s wedding? What a pity but I hope that maybe it was a prank and Hugo is going to marry Man instead. But it the storyline is good, I won’t mind Nancy with Power. But I just prefer Nancy and Raymond. Haha. Just some personal opinion.

    4. So agree with you I like Power and Nancy playing as a couple in this series and yeah they will end up together later on…..he is indeed funny in this drama

  2. Raymond Cho reminds me of Sunny Chan. Both seems youthful in looks and outlook, almost like the uncle in Overachievers. Both are well liked by their peers, both are helpful, talkative and easy to get along with. These are gems of the industry.

As for Overachievers, it is getting exciting and I am saddened by the fact not much news on how excellent was Power Chan in that series. So was Maggie Siu.

    1. Agreed!

Power Chan is superb in here!
He is so funny yet smart!
Love those parts of him with Wayne and Nancy!!

So funny the part where he mistakenly drove Nancy to other place and those meaningful dialogue of him telling Nancy bout chasing Hugo back.

So wish he will get an award this year!!!

      1. I love Nancy’s and Power’s characters too!

And they are doing a great job in their roles and chemistry with the rest of the eunuch five tigers.

    2. When Raymond Cho first debuted at TVB, I remember thinking he had a strong facial resemblance to Sunny Chan!

    3. Power always gets snubbed. He totally should’ve won for his role in the confident: Pang Sam Shun. Stupid TVB.

  3. I used to get the 2 of them mixed up. Great to hear they are close friends in real life. I have not seen a Tvb series for a long time so really miss seeing them. Hope Tvb has better series to watch soon.

  4. I just found out that all the great actors such as Roger, Wayne, Raymond Cho, Power and Derek Kwok are 50 this year. What a coincidence!

  5. I do hope they will give Power Chan and award this year he deserves it good acting skills

  6. Raymond Cho looks so much younger than Raymond Wong. Some people are just luckier than others when it comes to aging.

  7. Raymond Wong looks really young for his age. Remember he was paired up with Maggie Siu in Healing Hands as an older woman and younger man couple and i thought he was really much younger.. when in fact, they are in the same age.
