Although the current COVID-19 situation is still not fully under control in Hong Kong, Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) were seen filming new TVB drama Super Emissary <超能使者> in the immense heat. When working the cast and crew, Ruco takes extra precautions such as wearing a mask whenever he is not filming and frequently using hand sanitizer to clean his hands.
Ruco Has Less Family Time
Going back to work means Ruco has less time with his one-year-old daughter, Quinta. Filming long nights is the norm and Ruco sometimes returns home at 5 a.m. Nevertheless, he would help out with handy projects around the house to ensure Quinta’s growing needs. Ruco shared. “I built her a chair at midnight earlier. Because of the hot weather we’ve been getting lately, I put up cellophane in her room after I get off work at 5 a.m. I want her to sleep better and it’s okay even if it means less sleeping for me.”
When he is home, Ruco enjoys playing kitchen with Quinta. He laughed, “My daughter recently started playing kitchen, so I’ve been pretending to eat what she cooks. I have to eat whatever she brings me and if I don’t put something in my mouth, she’ll see it.”
Natalie Visits Doctor for Low Blood Pressure
Filming under the heat, Natalie appeared extremely tired on the set. Initially thinking it was nothing, Natalie was shocked when her traditional Chinese medicine doctor told her about her low blood pressure.
She said, “My normal blood pressure is usually 90, but it was at 74 that day. My doctor was so surprised that he asked if I was feeling faint and even gave me acupuncture therapy. He even wrote a prescription for a herbal detox tea when I said that I always feel like I’m going to faint from a heat stroke. I’m thinner than before and despite eating regularly, my body is not metabolizing properly. On top of that, I’ve only been sleeping three to four hours a day. I know that having a good immune system is important in fighting against the virus and that’s why I really need to take better care of myself.”
