Ruco Chan Is Not Scared of the 7-Year Itch
Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Phoebe Sin (單文柔) often make joint appearances at endorsement events. Raising their 6-year-old daughter Quintas, Ruco and Phoebe are the epitome of a happily married celebrity couple and are popular among advertisers.
At a recent jewelry event, Phoebe dazzled the crowd with her elegant and glamorous look. She said, “All the diamond accessories that I picked today are long, making me look slimmer” The couple joked they dressed up especially for the occasion, as they are approaching their “seven-year itch” this October. Ruco sweetly made a play on words, “It’s not that kind of itch, rather I’ve been raising Phoebe for seven years, keeping her healthy and happy.”
For Phoebe’s 35th birthday in April, Ruco turned to Quintas for celebration ideas, “Our daughter is both the creative director and the head of entertainment so she came up with suggestions for me.” He added Quintas is especially excited about birthdays, “She said she wanted to go to a theme park to eat so it’s all to fulfill her wishes. She has such a wild imagination that I have to bring her back down to earth sometimes!”
Quintas’ active imagination has brought out Ruco’s playful side. The proud father shared, “She would say she didn’t finish her homework and we have to play along by pretending to be angry. Last night, she wanted us to play a ‘baby delivery’ game. She told Phoebe to pretend to be pregnant, and I had to be the doctor and dad. Quintas played the nurse and older sister, holding the baby.” Asked if Quintas wants a younger sibling, Ruco said, “You never know with her. Every day she plays a different role. She even once said she wanted us to give her an older sister so she could be the younger sibling. We still haven’t received our scripts for today!”
Originally cast in producer Joe Chen’s (陳維冠) Radiant City <璀璨之城>, Ruco has now been replaced by Chilam Cheung (張智霖) as male lead. Ruco was unclear himself, “I really don’t know if it is the same drama filming in Macau? Chilam Cheung is very suitable for the role. Return of the Cuckoo <十月初五的月光> was also filmed in Macau. We all reminisce his characters in Triumph in the Skies and [Return of the Cuckoo]. I’m very happy that TVB can invite him to act in a big production.”
