Vincent Wong to Star in “Justice Sung” Remake

Starring Cheung Tat Ming (張達明) and Amy Kwok (郭藹明), Justice Sung <狀王宋世傑> aired to great success and much praise in the late 1990s for its endearing characters, fast-paced storyline, and edge-of-the-seat mystery cases. It has been 25 years since the first installment aired, and TVB is looking to recreate the magic that the series generated by casting Vincent Wong (王浩信) in the new remake.

Battling nasopharyngeal cancer in 2011, Cheung Tat Ming has significantly reduced his work output to manage his stress levels and prioritize his health. As such, he will not be reprising his role as the clever and quick-witted Justice Sung and will partake in the series in a smaller role. Primarily working behind-the-scenes in recent years, Cheung Tat Ming expressed excitement over the opportunity to once again act in front of the camera.

The titular role of Justice Sung will be portrayed by Vincent Wong, with Elaine Yiu (姚子羚) starring as the main female lead. Vincent expressed delight in being given the opportunity to portray such a memorable character.

Lam Chi Chung (林子聰) will serve in the roles of producer, director, and screenwriter.

  1. I like Vincent in comedy. I think this is a good fit to revamp a fond memory but not something so iconic that we can’t accept a new version.

  2. The script is important as well so do hope the tv station is able to do better in it.
Assuming the female lead is the protagonist’s spouse, adorable and with more brawn than brain. Don’t recall seeing Elaine in similar role, curious if she is going to play that character.

  3. I believe in Vincent. He’s really good in long-speaking roles, especially as lawyers or defenders of justice. LOL. Of course, Cheung Tat Ming’s Justice Song will always be a classic. I don’t view this remake as a “replacement” like many people do. I see it as more of a homage or inspired version. Also nice that they have the original Justice Song guest-starring.

  4. Cheung Tat Ming never really impressed me as an actor, his face always had a smug look, so while he made a good Justice Sung because he had a “nga chat chat” vibe.

I much preferred Lawrence Cheng as Dai Ah Dan in “Man of Wisdom.” He was such a wholesome character and had great wholesome characterization with multiple layers.

I have faith in Vincent and know he’ll do well, but I wished he did Lawrence Cheng’s remake instead.
