Vivian Hsu’s Horror Film “The Devil Fish” Receives Great Response
Starring Chang Jen-shuo (鄭人碩) and Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄), the Taiwanese horror film The Devil Fish <人面魚:紅衣小女孩外傳> opened in Taiwan to rave reviews, successfully marking Vivian’s return to the film industry. Visually haunting, creepy, but also moving, the film is earning great success in the box office.
Many of Vivian’s celebrity friends have also sent in videos and messages to congratulate her on the film’s success, including Shu Qi (舒淇), Lin Chi-ling (林志玲), Ruby Lin (林心如), Peter Ho (何潤東), Harlem Yu (庾澄慶), and Show Lo (羅志祥). Show, Ruby, and Shu Qi also parodied the film while urging their fans to support the film.
But despite the film’s success, Vivian isn’t entirely satisfied. At a celebratory fan event for the film, Vivian told the press that her bath tub scene was deleted from the film. The director, David Chuang (莊絢維), quickly explained, “It was because the film was too long, so we had no choice but to edit out the scenes that would affect the flow of the story.” Vivian said, “My skin nearly broke down because of that scene, and I had to wear contact lenses which I hate!”
The film dropped a few surprises, such as a cameo appearance by Vivian’s husband Sean Lee (李雲峰). Vivian said Sean himself didn’t realize that he was in the film until he saw the movie. “I used his photo in the film with his permission, but he forgot about it!” said Vivian. In the film, Sean “plays” Vivian’s ex-husband, and he makes an appearance in a photo that they took in Hokkaido.
