Vic Chou to Make Taiwanese Drama Comeback with “Chaser of Evil”

Vic Chou (周渝民) is set to make his Taiwanese drama comeback after nine years.

The 39-year-old, whose last Taiwanese drama was 2012’s Home <回家>, has confirmed through his manager that he has signed on to star in Chaser of Evil <追凶者>, directed by The Victims’ Game <誰是被害者> director David Chuang (莊絢維). The drama will be shot in Taiwan and produced by iQIYI.

After winning Best Actor at the 48th Golden Bell Awards for his performance in Home, Vic transitioned his focus to Greater China films and the Chinese television industry. In 2018, he released two historical Chinese TV dramas Beauty in the Closet <櫃中美人> and The Flame’s Daughter <烈火如歌>, both which aired to popular success, giving Vic the nickname “historical male beauty.” He also has one upcoming historical drama Poetry of the Song Dynasty <大宋宮詞> costarring Liu Tao (劉濤).

Since filming his Chinese TV dramas, there were rumors that Vic and Tsai Yueh Hsun (蔡岳勳), director of 2009’s award-winning hit Black & White <痞子英雄>, were in talks to collaborate in an upcoming series, but there were no new developments.

According to reports, Chaser of Evil is a series set in modern time. The 40-episode drama series has a budget of over $10 million New Taiwan dollars per episode, totaling NT$400 million for the entire series.
