Yuan Quan Steps in for Zhao Wei in “The Good Wife”

After Vicki Zhao Wei (趙薇) became blacklisted, all her work was removed from China’s streaming platforms even though she has been an esteemed actress for over two decades. She was supposed to film upcoming drama The Good Wife <玫瑰之戰> alongside good friend Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明), but there are rumors that Yuan Quan (袁泉) may be replacing her role.

Adapted from an American series, the drama revolves around a full-time mother who returns to the field of law. After her husband’s arrest, she is forced to return to her old career as a lawyer at her best friend’s firm in order to support her family. Rising to the challenge and growing stronger as she faces adversity, she eventually attains career success as she balances family and friendships.

Aside from Huang Xiaoming and Yuan Quan, Feihong Yu (俞飛鴻) and other veteran actors round out the lineup. With director Sun Hao (孫皓) of The Journey of Life <慶餘年> fame on board, many netizens look forward to The Good Wife

  1. Zhao Wei will lay low for a while but I dont think we have seen the last of her… Zhao Wei situation does not seem as critical as Fan Bingbing.

I am enjoying seeing Huang Xiaoming focusing on his career now. He has been supporting his wife the last few years and told his eye off his own. I dont know if he and Baby will undergo a divorce but it is obvious their relationship is going thru tough times. I hope they will pull thru these tough times…

I am honestly not a big fan of Huang Xiaoming in recent years… his acting have not shown improvements. But this drama may suit him…Looking forward to it.

    1. Zhao Wei’s situation involves economic fraud and alleged involvement with forces hostile to China. If that’s true, she’s in bigger trouble compared to FBB.

  2. I am a fan of Huang Xiao Ming’s recent dramas such as Winters Begonia and Nirvana in Fire II. His characters in both productions were my favorite. 🙂
