Myolie Wu Opens Bridal Studio Business

Myolie Wu’s (胡杏兒) bridal shop business officially opened today, and her clique of girlfriends turned up to to provide support and model some of the wedding dresses. Attending the opening event were Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Paisley Wu (胡蓓蔚), Mandy Wong (黃智雯), Elaine Yiu (姚子羚) and Selena Li (李施嬅). The ladies even gamely took some bridal photographs to help promote Myolie’s new business.

Leaving TVB after 16 years of employment, Myolie had planned the launch of her new bridal business over the last six months. Myolie invested a seven-figure sum with fashion designer, Kev Yiu, to launch their new bridal gown label, Kevolie.

At the event, Myolie expressed her appreciation that all her closest friends turned up to support her. She added that if any of them got married, she would be happy to sponsor their wedding gowns.

On why Myolie’s boyfriend, entrepreneur Philip Lee, was not at the event, she admitted that he had wanted to come but she was afraid of him stealing the media spotlight and unintentionally diverting attention away from the wedding dresses. Myolie thus forbade her boyfriend from attending the event.

Nancy was then teased by the reporters for her wedding date. She laughed and said that she would probably let Myolie have a turn first, and implied that Myolie’s wedding day was not far off. This unexpected revelation left Myolie at a loss for words.

Fortunately for Myolie, the subject was changed to her $3.9 million USD offer from the Shaw Brothers Studio. She said that she was grateful for the interest she has received, but she would first focus on managing her bridal shop before considering the next steps to take regarding her future.

  1. TVB artistes are all turning to business ventures, extending their names into personal brands. Given Myolie’s strong interest in fashion, she chose to start a business linked to her own interests.

Bridal businesses appear to be highly competitive in Hong Kong though.
