Raymond Wong Excited for the World Cup

The FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil is coming in less than two weeks, and TVB has already geared up its artistes to promote the event at home and on location. While attending a press conference for an upcoming soccer championship for youths, Raymond Wong (黃浩然) said he is excited for the World Cup and cannot wait to watch the game with his sons, Kayden and Ramsley.

As a soccer lover and also the event’s ambassador, Raymond was asked to show off some soccer kicking moves. Raymond politely declined, explaining, “Let’s not embarrass myself. I played frequently in high school but I studied at Tang King Po, so the field I played at was really small and surrounded by walls. It’s not qualified experience.”

After graduating school, Raymond said he rarely found enough time to play the sport, but he does occasionally watch the games with his friends.

On which team Raymond is supporting for the World Cup, he immediately listed soccer legends, Argentina and Brazil. He also added, “I used to have the habit of studying teams and game results three weeks before the World Cup starts, and then watch it with a group of my friends. I haven’t had the time to do that yet!”

Raymond’s older son, three-year-old Kayden, joined a soccer club for kids half a year ago. Raymond said he is extremely proud to see his son learning about discipline and teamwork. “Aside from learning team spirit, he has also learned how to see the world. I’m letting my son try out different things now, to see what he is interested in. I’m not good at soccer, so I want to see if he’ll like it.”

Regardless of how busy Raymond is, he would always try to find some time to play soccer with his son. Asked if he is interested in sending Kayden to play overseas, Raymond laughed and said, “Save that discussion for later!”

  3. Most boring sport in the world. No idea what there is to get excited about. Every game ends in 0-0 nil nil tie.

    I’m glad Basketball has surpassed Soccer in Global sporting.

    1. Are you serious? Surpassed? Who said so?

      It is more art than brute force and one of the very few games where every decision can spark a riot.

      To quote;

      “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it’s much more serious than that”
