Poyd Doesn’t Think She’s Special: “I Am Just a Normal Person”
Media Asia’s new web drama Shadow of Justice <蝕日風暴>, starring Chilam Cheung (張智霖), Fiona Sit (薛凱琪), and Sunny Wang (王陽明) are hitting new records on ViuTV’s streaming service, creating a new wave of popularity for web dramas in Hong Kong.
Thai actress Poyd are among members of the supporting cast who have gained attention for her role in the series. Poyd is not unfamiliar to Hong Kong audiences, having starred in films such as The White Storm <掃毒> and From Vegas to Macau II <賭場風雲II>.
Known as “the most beautiful trans actress”, Poyd has moved her focus from Thailand to the Greater China region in recent years. Her high-profile appearance in 2013’s The White Storm was the film that had firmly established her career in Hong Kong. Having collaborated with stars as Chow Yun-fat (周潤發) and Nick Cheung (張家輝), the media has dubbed her “the luckiest trans actress.” Poyd, however, begs to differ.
“There are still many talented people in our community. I talked about a similar topic when I spoke at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I don’t think that this has anything to do with transitioning of sexes, but the inequalities between sexes. Anyways, I don’t think I feel any more special. I am still one of them. I am just a normal person from Thailand.”
Asking if Poyd has come across any incidents of discrimination while working in Hong Kong, she said, “Discrimination? I can’t say I have, because I’ve never felt it. At least, I was never unhappy. Maybe it’s because I don’t know very much Cantonese, haha!”
Poyd continued, “Life is unbearably short. If you are able to make contributions, do it. It gives life more significance.”
Having already worked in Hong Kong for a few years, Poyd was asked about her current level of Cantonese. Has it improved? She laughed and said, “I can’t say it has improved very much, because I don’t speak it all the time. However, the staff would teach me during work, so that’s where I’ve learned most of my Cantonese. (What are some of the things you’ve learned?) Like how to say ‘hello everyone,’ ‘long time no see,’ and ‘you’re so bad!’”

I’m a little confused when it says trans Thai Actress so does it means she’s not actually a female but a male? Kinda like Bruce Jenner? Who’s a male turn into a female? Was she that famous in Thailand? I wonder how she get in the Hong Kong film? I just don’t really know who she is but just being curious about rather it’s a male or female?
@cutie777 She’s transgender, male turned into female. She underwent surgery at a young age and is indeed very popular in Thailand.
@taylor that’s what I meant a male turn into a female just like Bruce Jenner a good sample. These days you can’t really tell if that person is a male or female because of transgender. She must have lots of money for the surgery to have a female body and look.
@cutie777 yea she’s a much prettier version than Bruce Jenner. Thailand is know for transgender surgical procedure but she already has feminine features when she was a male. I’m not sure how much it cost over in Thailand but i think it’s very expensive here in US. In order to maintain her figure she needs take or inject female hormones regularly so I don’t this this has anything to do with how much money she spent for surgeries.
@taylor yes that’s right she’s more prettier than Bruce Jenner but I wonder about her voice? Does she sound like a female? I know Bruce Jenner still have her male voices and I haven’t seen any of those movies yet so not sure how she sound.

i saw her in the drama and was thinking that this is such a beautiful girl, where did they find her. did not know it was a he before. she’s very lucky to look the way that she does after surgery.
