Eric Tsang’s Return Rocks TVB Management

The return of Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) in managerial positions are rocking a big management shakeup at TVB. Now taking on the role of Deputy General Manager of the programming and production divisions, Eric will oversee variety show and music production.

Sandy Yu (余詠珊), who was previously in charge of variety shows, will now be Assistant General Manager in Business Development. In addition, Sandy’s husband Herman Ho (何哲圖) will be stepping down from his role as CEO of Voice Entertainment Group Ltd, as Eric will be taking over his duties.

Admitting that he has little experience in the music industry, Eric hopes to scout out new talent and diversify the types of music produced by the company to achieve breakthroughs. It is said he also wants to bring back glimpses of the golden era of music and bridge back better relations with Hong Kong’s music labels.

One of the first moves that Eric made was putting a halt to music competition program The Voice of the Stars <聲夢傳奇>, which was originally intended to take place on March 7. The show’s producer, Chan Yuk Leung (陳旭亮) confirmed that The Voice of the Stars is currently “on hold” and waiting for Eric’s direction.

These management decisions do not come as a sudden surprise, as TVB Chairman Thomas Hui (許濤) announced last month that the company will pivot towards new goals of improving the quality of shows.  More new changes. are expected as the station continues to expand in various ways to address the Chinese market, while maintaining market leadership in Hong Kong.

    1. @jingxi2943 there’s an old proverb that suits you perfectly my friend, “if you didn’t open your mouth, no one would think you were a mute.”

      1. @seriously Ya exactly, everything from this person about shows, dramas, movies etc will be “can’t wait to watch” which is really annoying after a while. Is it really genuine that can’t wait to watch or just writing for the sake of boosting the article? I doubt is genuine as it sounds weird that everything is can’t wait to watch.

      2. @hayden there was a time when @jingxi2943 wrote REAL comments back before Oct 2020. Then suddenly all the comments became “can’t wait to watch”, “smart woman”, “beautiful couple”, “beautiful family”, ohh and “can’t wait to watch:)”

Yeh. Just a troll. Was writing real comments and argumentative. Probably realised this is the best way to retaliate by continuously annoying us with standard praising comments.

      4. @jimmyszeto Previously did not really pay attention to comments column and only read articles, so did not realise jingxi2943 did write comments in the past that was argumentative and abuse. In that case, this person decide to change for the better to write good comments to avoid any arguments and I think is a good thing then. As positive comment is always better than negative, abuse comment. He/she should keep it up.

      5. @hayden it’s really just best to ignore their comments. I honestly always just scroll past whatever they say, I’m to the point where I barely even notice it. It’s so obvious a toll job just to annoy other people. Treat it like white noise and it eventually goes away, either by the guy losing interest, or just training the brain to not even notice it.

  1. Man, that whole feud between the 4 record companies and TVB had both sides being big losers. It really contributed to the massive decline in cantopop in HK. Sad to see where the industry is at vs. the golden age of the 80’s and 90’s.

    1. @theyenman I truly agree, HK has been promoting to be united throughout all these years especially with all the issues HK went through, but they clashed among themselves and killed off CANTON POP a market that was once at the top. The worst is none of them will admit their fault. Canton pop is now something from the past… they’ll exist but barely anyone listen to it anymore. I am still listening to my 80’s and 90’s playlist the one and truly golden era.

i am pretty sure that most of these powerful men in entertainment aren’t exactly the most righteous people…. just look at our former president.
