Kelly Cheung Ends Eight-Year Romance
Despite having dated for eight years with on-off marriage rumors in recent years, TVB rising fadan Kelly Cheung (張曦雯) appears to have headed for splitsville with her longtime Canadian beau Mark Brunyez.
Mutually Unfollowed Each Other on IG
The longtime couple were already living together, and Kelly would often share updates of their sweet and happy moments. However, she recently cleansed these couple photos from her IG account and hinted of a major life change in her latest post. Captioning a photo of herself in English, the 35 year-old wrote, “This year brought some major personal changes. Finally taking time to settle into this new chapter and figure out who I am and what I truly need?“ before closing in Chinese, “Change isn’t easy, but I believe everything turns out for the best,” The two have also mutually unfollowed each other, prompting many to believe that the “change” she was referring to is resuming her singlehood status. With filming for Radiant City <璀璨之城> delayed, Kelly made use of the chance to go on a solo trip to the States where she is believed to stay for some time before filming resumes.
Delaying Marriage for Career?
While many expressed shock at the couple’s breakup, there have been telltale signs all along, such as during an event in May when Kelly expressed that both are busy with their work lives – she would be filming for The Chivalrous Doctor <俠醫> on her birthday on May 11, but Mark who has yet to reveal any plans would be leaving HK for work, in addition to “moving to Macau alone” to accommodate filming for Radiant City. With her career star shining high this year, Kelly had many lead actress opportunities. She previously revealed that Mark was ready to move into the next life phase of marriage, but she was not ready to settle down just yet, being keen to clinch the TVB Queen title before tying the knot.
This year marks 12 years since the two’s first encounter in a bar. Seeing Mark as her ideal lover, Kelly took the first move by sending him a text, even pretending to bump into him; but the two started dating officially on eight years ago. Formerly a Vice President of Program Trading at an international firm in US, Mark then forayed into the recycling business in Hong Kong in recent years. The two lived together at a 30 million Sky Horizon residence in Mid-Levels, a spacious unit where Kelly once hosted actor Roger Kwok‘s (郭晉安) birthday party, with the long dining table accommodating up to ten persons.
BFFs Lend Their Support
Forming a close friendship since filming Big White Duel <白色強人> together, actress Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) even became “bosom Taurus buddies”, constant visiting each other’s homes; Kelly showed up at Natalie’s bakery venture when it opened, and took time out of her busy schedule to support the latter’s stage production when Natalie’s Yerma <妻迷> aired.
Asked about Kelly’s romantic update, Natalie replied to the press, “It’s not convenient for me to make any comments about my friend’s update, I will accompany her when she’s back. Similarly, actress Jeannie Chan (陳瀅), who got close to Kelly during the filming of Undercover Girls <臥底嬌娃>, lent her support by commenting 3 heart emojis on her recent reflective post.

NO one absolutely no one should be surprised by this. They are not in synch and headed in different directions. She said in a live interview she likes to be in control in the relationship and have her boyfriend adjust to her. I am not saying she’s a bad partner in any way shape or form but I do not believe, but it’s just not the right person. She’s 35 and they have been dating since she’s 27. She won Miss Chinese International in 2012 and the last 13 years have been extremely smooth sailing for her career. Mark is nearing 40, attractive, and successful and very well connected. They will be fine finding other partners
Typical situation with most of the TVB so-called ‘Fa-Dans’, where they reach an age that they feel they can dig into someone better well-off and richer…….This goes on for a few years, and after getting ‘played-around’ by some richer dudes in HK, they end up past 40 years old and beyond their prime, with no one wanting to marry them anymore cause they have been play-things to the tycoons in HK………As time drags on, they go from their 40’s and well into their 50’s being a spinster…………Kelly Cheung is just going this path as well!
