Arnold Kwok Receives His DUI Sentence

TVB artiste Arnold Kwok (郭子豪) arrived at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court at 2 p.m. today to hear his drunk driving sentence. In late March, he failed the Breathalyzer test and was arrested for driving under the influence – to which he pleaded guilty to last month and was granted bail.

In the case of the verdict, the judge said Arnold’s probation report was positive, he showed remorse, and he had the support of his family. The judge believes Arnold had learned his lesson and knows not to commit the same mistake after it negatively impacted his work. As a result, Arnold was sentenced to complete 90 hours of community service and the suspension of his driving license for 12 months. The actor would need to take a driving improvement course before his driving license can be retrieved.

Arnold exited the court at about 3 p.m. and accepted an interview with the media. “The storm has finally passed,” he said. “I will abide by my sentence and be a good person. I will be a good artiste, play different roles, keep up my positive and diligent image, and work hard to show everyone good results.”

When reporters asked the Life on the Line <跳躍生命線> actor if he felt lucky for the light sentencing, he expressed, “I don’t know anything about the law, I will respect the ruling. I am grateful that the judicial institution gave me the chance to change.”

He also promised the judge to never drink and drive in the future. “It’s hard to avoid alcohol consumption in social settings, but I won’t drive while I’m intoxicated.”
