Cecilia Cheung’s Mother Earns Her Own Living

Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) had a rough start. At the peak of her entertainment career in the mid-2000’s, Cecilia had to constantly provide for her mother and brothers’ lavish lifestyles, becoming their sole economic support. She continued to support them even after her marriage to Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒), but after the couple’s divorce in 2012, Cecilia stopped being so generous with her money, and dedicated most of her time to raising her two sons, Lucas and Quintus.

But even if this is so, Cecilia’s 55-year-old mother looks like she’s doing pretty well on her own now. Paparazzi spotted her mother, Davies Shally, working at a cooking supply store in Kowloon, acting as the shop’s sales associate and manager. Davies appears to be a diligent worker, as she would open the store everyday at 11 a.m. and close it at 8 p.m. She was always on time and kept herself busy during the day.

Cecilia’s two younger brothers also no longer seem to be relying on Cecilia’s income, and are working on their own.

Before Cecilia stopped paying for her family’s expenses, Davies used to own a bar and a restaurant in Hong Kong. Davies didn’t have to worry about money then, but after Cecilia’s divorce from Nicholas and her subsequent move to Singapore, Davies had to find her own means to earn money. Cecilia’s visits to her mother also became less frequent.

Davies has even made her debut in the industry, making her first appearance in the horror documentary film The Cases II <魕異>. Davies’ two sons went to support their mother at the red carpet premiere last October, but Cecilia was nowhere in sight.
