Daniel Wu Got Hurt From Helping Sexual Assault Victim

A recent violent assault case in Tang Shan, China has sparked discussions around violence against women. The incident reminded many netizens of Daniel Wu’s (吳彥祖) heroic actions in 2005.

At the time, Daniel was in a club where he saw a woman silently pleading for help as she was being sexually harassed by an inebriated man. The actor immediately stepped in and politely asked the man to stop. However, the man became very angry and attacked Daniel on the head with a glass bottle many times. The bottle split in half, and Daniel fought back in order to protect himself. He ended up breaking the other man’s nose, but Daniel had sustained quite a few injuries resulting in six stitches at the hospital.

At the time, Daniel was very afraid that his mother would see the news and decided not tell her so that she would not worry. Until this day, the actor has a scar on his head.

  1. Really applaud him for daring to step up to protect the victim. Not everyone have the guts to do that

  2. I am very proud of Daniel Wu & am glad I read it here about that story regarding him stepping in to help that woman being sexually harassed by that guy, he actually saved her life but sad to learn of his injuries & more so his concern about his mom finding out. I’m now a huge fan but more so respect for him & hope we have men like him still out there & not afraid to step in, get involved to help a woman in distress even if it means his safety at risk in the interim. If it’s not to late to wish him all the best in his career but most of all, thank you for being a helpful human being, take care, mahalo & Aloha from Waikiki on island of Oahu, Hawaii.

  3. He is such a nice man! Plus I remember some time ago when elderly Asian lady was physically attacked in the US by crazed person without any reason (saw the CCTV footage). He was the first to offer monetary reward for any information bringing that person to justice. I admire him a lot!
