Did Joseph Zeng Undergo Plastic Surgery?

The latest remake of Jin Yong’s (金庸) Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre <倚天屠龙记> features sharp cinematography and heavy computer effects. In the lead role as Zhang Wuji is 21-year-old Joseph Zeng (曾舜晞), whose exotic looks have piqued interest whether they were surgically enhanced.

Joseph entered the industry at a young age as a part of the boy group, Fresh Geek. From his singing career, he slowly transitioned into the film industry. Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre was his breakout drama. The series started broadcasting on Tencent in China in February.

Many netizens found pictures of Joseph from his school days and almost thought they were seeing two different people. In his old photos, his face was a lot rounder and his nose was not as straight. However, his fan base came into his defense with photos of him full of energy and spirit. To his fans, he was already a “school hunk” back then.

  1. he obviously did. honestly attempting to watch hsds2019 was an issue (other than the obvious slo-mo and lack of martial arts) was because of this guy. His big eyes are so unnatural and acting just not very good. Looks like an typical “idol” aka not manly lol

    1. @karina i honestly had the same feeling the first few episodes he appeared in but he did eventually grow into the role, and hsds19 is definitely the best tv adaptation i’ve watched thus far (and i’ve seen 6 of them). please give it a chance!

      1. @anoninhk I actually did watch it and wasn’t that bad. My overall impression of the 3 main leads were that Zhao Min was made too whiny and cried too much. Think the actress tried to imitate Gigi’s ZM too much but didn’t have the star power. Zhou Zhiruo was not written complex enough and ZWJ was made more decisive but out of character towards the end. Not a bad adaptation overall but 86 & 2001 is still my favs

  2. “They couldn’t possibly do PS that young!” – here is an example of someone who is just 21 that has already done PS lol. Pretty sure, within 10yrs, we all get to see who actually use PS and/or Botox/filler. It will catch up with you so fast, you don’t notice it! Latest news even YM shows she has been abusing Botox.
Lol @the fans, “school hunk”? More like school commoner xD

  3. He probably had his eyes enhanced. Otherwise, I don’t see much difference. I looked quite different from my teenage years so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he didn’t mess with anything other than his eyes.

    1. @pleikupho from 15 to 30, I agree one can look very different. But the left photo looks like he’s 15, youngest, if not 17? Within 5 years, it shouldn’t be that much change, and you should be able to see the similarities, in which case, I wouldn’t possibly point one out, I would think it’s two completely different persons :/

      1. @littlefish i don’t know. i looked quite different between high school and college. even now in my early 30s, my looks change from year to year. these two photos are taken at different angles and lighting. i still see similar features except for the eyes.
