Gigi Lai and Michelle Reis Share Thoughts on Raising Their Kids
For many parents, their children are their lifelong responsibility. Even when their children grow up to be adults, they will always be their parent’s babies. Former actresses Gigi Lai (黎姿) and Michelle Reis (李嘉欣) recently shared their thoughts on social media about their experiences as mothers and their aspirations for their children.
Marrying wealthy businessman Patrick Ma (馬廷強) in 2008, Gigi is now parents to three young daughters. The 48-year-old has always been very protective of her children and will blur out their faces when posting photos on social media. Recently, she shared that she has very conflicting thoughts about her children growing up and admitted that she is scared.
Gigi shared, “Like all parents, I look forward to my children growing up. However, I secretly also hope that my children will remain by my side forever. I am afraid that one day they will no longer need me, but I am also worried that they will become overly dependent. I hope that they’ll be able to achieve their dreams, but I am also worried about them flying away. All of these clashing thoughts are slowly popping up as my children grow older. However, this is life and I have accepted this. I shall be a brave and selfless mother. I will always be on standby as my children’s strongest support!”
Liki Gigi, Michele retired from acting after marrying wealthy businessman Julian Hui (許晉亨) in 2008. Raising her 9-year-old son Jayden, Michele also wants her son to be strong and independent one day. She shared her thoughts in a recent post of the family on a hike, “One must explore in the journey into adulthood, and on this path you will encounter difficult obstacles. It is important to not feel discouraged when you fall and to have the perseverance to continue. As a mother, I hope that my child will grow up to be strong. I watched from behind as Jayden fell and climbed back up, and I felt very gratified because growing up will never be a smooth path. You will encounter new obstacles at every age–the earlier you experience failure the better! Let’s add oil together!”
