Him Law and Bob Lam’s Chemistry in “The Cop is a Big Shot”

TVB’s new drama The Cop Is a Big Shot <警是個大佬> held its wrap dinner on June 19, bringing together the cast and crew to celebrate the successful completion of filming. Lead actor Him Law (羅子溢) appeared at the dinner in high spirits, but in a media interview, he revealed that he had accidentally injured himself towards the later stage of filming.

Suspected Rib Fracture?!

The Cop Is a Big Shot features a number of exciting fight and action sequences, and Him revealed that he took on most of the action scenes himself. However, while filming a flying kick scene, he accidentally hit his own rib with his elbow the moment he landed.

With a wry smile, Him shared: “Actually, it still hurts when I sneeze or cough. I was filming a flying kick scene, and when I landed, my elbow slammed into my rib with a loud thud. The people around me told me not to take it lightly, saying that this area is very easy to fracture. I also started wondering if it was really cracked. These past few days, whenever I cough or sneeze, it feels like my whole body is shaking. It really hurts quite a bit.”

He said that although there is no visible bruising at the moment, the area is clearly painful when pressed, and even turning over in bed causes discomfort. Following strong advice from the producer and friends around him, Him said he would make time in the next two days to visit the hospital for an X-ray, just to be safe.

Great Chemistry with Bob Lam

Speaking about his co-star in the new drama, Him sounded especially excited. He revealed that he and Bob Lam have actually known each other for more than a decade, but this marks the first time the two have worked together so closely in a drama.

“We actually met over ten years ago when we were filming a movie, but this time we really had a lot of in-depth exchanges and spent three full months together. We also have mutual friends, so we were always chatting on set. He’s already a big boss now, haha! But what I admire most about him is that he’s very generous and open-minded. He may not have that much drama experience, so sometimes I would say to him, ‘Why don’t you try acting it this way? It might work better.’ It was precisely because he was so open and receptive that I dared to share my thoughts with him. He really is a very good and very open-minded partner, and I think we had great chemistry this time!”

Aside from the fresh pairing of Him Law and Bob Lam, the modern-day drama will also feature Aska Cheung (張馳豪) alongside a strong female cast that includes Him’s romantic interests Venus Wong (王敏奕), and Kelly Fu (傅嘉莉) in addition to Winki Lai (賴慰玲) — making The Cop Is a Big Shot one of TVB’s upcoming releases to watch.
