With every successful drama comes a sequel, and The Exorcist’s Meter <降魔的> is not an exception. As one of the highest rated dramas in 2017, The Exorcist’s Meter received a lot of praise for its intense demon fighting plot line, and emotional family backstory. Today, the production team and cast of the drama met the press to promote their upcoming show.
Many fans are excited to meet a new and fresh cast, but also want the original stars to return. The first series ended with Kenneth Ma’s (馬國明) character defeating the evil spirit portrayed by Mandy Wong (黃智雯) and the demon portrayed by Hugo Wong (黃子恆) leaving Moon Lau (劉佩玥) and Ram Chiang’s (蔣志光) characters dead. But will they be returning in the sequel?
At the promotional event, fans’ burning questions were all answered and a bit of the sequel’s plot was revealed. Hugo Wong’s screen time will be limited as his character dies after Iris Lam (林凱恩) gives birth to his demon child.
Fans can look forward to some three-way romance tensions between Kenneth, Mandy, and Zoie Tam (譚凱琪). Asked if Kenneth and Mandy will have a good ending this time, he said, “Last time it didn’t happen. It should be [a good ending] this time. But I’m also paired up with Zoie. I can’t believe that there are so many beautiful ladies falling a taxi driver. I should just quit being an actor and become a taxi driver to drive beautiful girls around.”
C-Kwan (鄭詩君) adds humor by being a perverted spirit who likes to peek under women’s skirts. He will share a lot of scenes with Mandy and lighten her character up.
In regards to Moon Lau’s character who dies tragically in the first series, she becomes a spirit who refused to go to heaven because there was much more for her do on Earth. Her immortal ability will help Kenneth and be his guardian angel.
In the first series, Ram Chiang played four different characters in which he played previously in past dramas. The director said, “This is the beauty of the TVB universe. We borrow characters from other dramas, and build a new concept around these iconic figures”. Since Ram’s character died of an electric shock, he will be returning as one of his other characters, Iron Man, who is a computer genius from Ghost of Relativity <鬼同你OT>.
Although Hubert Wu (胡鴻鈞) was at the press conference, he was reticent about his role, “Ho Zai will be returning but as a spirit.” Alex Mak (麥凱程) and Gloria Tang (鄧佩儀) are new members who have joined the cast.
The Exorcist’s Meter 2 has started filming, and air sometime this year in 2019.
