Makiyo Escapes Jail in Taxi Driver Assault Case

Taiwanese-Japanese singer, Makiyo, and her friend, Takateru Tomoyori, have been plagued by legal woes since they were videotaped physically assaulting taxi driver, Lin Yu Jun, in February. The verdict for the case was decided in court yesterday. The public was outraged by Makiyo and Takateru’s behavior. The pair managed to escape imprisonment in the high profile assault case that rocked the Taiwanese entertainment industry.

Makiyo was sentenced 10 months in prison, while Takateru was given a one year sentence. The pair pleaded guilty, thus the court suspended the sentences to three year’s probation for Makiyo and four year’s probation for Takateru.

On February 2, 2012, Makiyo and Takateru boarded a taxi in Taipei, Taiwan. The pair asked the taxi driver, Mr. Lin, to drift race the car. Upon his refusal, Makiyo and Takateru physically beat the driver, who sustained rib fractures and serious head injuries. Although Makiyo initially denied assaulting Mr. Lin, she was caught on film kicking him.

Later, Makiyo pleaded in court that she was under the influence of alcohol on the night of the assault. Makiyo and Takateru later reached an out-of-court settlement of $3 million NT with Mr. Lin.

Yesterday, Makiyo, Takateru, and Mr. Lin did not appear in court to listen to the proceedings. After learning from her lawyer about the verdict, Makiyo was very calm and respected the court’s decision. She wished Mr. Lin a speedy recovery.

Makiyo’s mother was sad upon hearing the verdict, hoping that the incident would finally draw to a close, with life returning back to normal.

Jayne: Such a dramatic scandal that hogged the Taiwanese entertainment headlines for many weeks! Personally, I felt that the taxi driver, Mr. Lin’s out-of-court settlement amount with Makiyo was very low.

  2. Is Makiyo escape jail because of political reason because she is Japanese? ,are Japanese Prime Minister offer money to Taiwan to set her free ?
will she be jail if she a chinese ?
Why the Hell this Jap chick do in Taiwan entertaiment ,is she a Japanese porn actress ,never heard of her until now?

    1. She’s a model/singer. Not all Japanese girls are porn actress -_-

  3. too bad she didn’t go to jail. What she did was just wrong. It’s just not fair to the tax driver that was beaten up.

  4. Is her mother serious? How would life go back to normal after her hellish daughter had her stupid looking boyfriend beat up a old man. Whatever career she had in Taiwan is completely destroyed. No one in the entertainment industry is going to take her seriously.

  5. This makiyo’s act is very sinful and very irresponsible.

Everyone has their previous karma brought forward into this life, such that there is a more or less fixed pattern on how one’s life will unfold, based on your birthdate and time. This is called 定数. Yet there are always the variables, deeds that can cause one’s destiny to veer away from its preset direction, either in a positive or negative way. This is the 变数.

    定数之中有变数,变数之中亦有定数,所谓万法皆空,因果不空,就是这个道理。命是可以算,但是千万不可以认 命。

  6. Doesn’t Makiyo’s male friend have triad influences? It was widely speculated that this was why the taxi driver took the settlement money as it’s very little and can barely pay for his medical fees.

  7. Just curious. What does Makiyo has to do during probation?

    1. I think she cannot leave Taiwan, has to report to the police station regularly. She would be closely monitored by the police

      1. 3 years probation pretty long time to be on good behaviour.

  8. Why I’m not surprising, she’s known for her aggressive behavior. She should learn a lesson from this.

  9. I am disappointed that they both did not get jailed but instead of probation. Why do celebs always seem to get away with things that normal citizens wouldn’t?? Money, fame, etc?? It is so sad that life is so unfair. But I believe in karma and what goes around comes around…

    1. Meant to instead just probation.. Gosh, I really need the edit button.

    2. You have to understand things are not as clean & straightforward as it appears to be…….The legal system is meant for the rich (powerful) ones with agenda to impoverish the poor ppl like us. The system can be easily be “bought” in favor of the rich ppl…..

      1. I know that but I am just so disappointed that things have to be that way… So sad and really reminds me of the olden days where the rich and powerful get to do anything bad and get away with it while the poor people have to experience injustice… Very sad but so true.
