Michelle Chen Dishes About Her Beijing and Taipei Wedding: “It’ll Be a Surprise for Us”
Last week, the Taiwanese media reported that actress Michelle Chen (陳妍希) will wed her boyfriend of one year, Chinese actor Chen Xiao (陳曉), this July. The couple plan to have two major ceremonies; the first one will be held in Beijing on July 19, and the second one, a traditional southern ceremony in Taipei, will be held three days later on July 21.
Attending an event on June 3, Michelle was asked to confirm if the news was true. Michelle joked, “What? [The media] said it, not me.” However her manager, who was standing beside her, clarified, “Actually, it’s going to be around that time. We just need to verify the venues.”
On her reasons for having two ceremonies, Michelle said, “We want to give each other surprises.”
Michelle will be in charge of handling the Taipei banquet, while Chen Xiao will be handling the wedding in Beijing. Michelle expressed that they’re keeping each other in the dark about their own wedding preparations, hoping to surprise each other on the wedding day.
The Romance of the Condor Heroes <神雕俠侶> star was then asked to disclose more about her bridesmaids lineup, but Michelle declined to elaborate. Asking if her close friend, Rainie Yang (楊丞琳), will be part of the group, Michelle said with a smile, “All I can say for now is that I will have the world’s most beautiful bridesmaids.”
Due to their busy schedules, Michelle and Chen Xiao have not had time to take their wedding portraits. Michelle said she has always wanted to film the photos in Hainan, but couldn’t find the time to. “If we have time, maybe we can do a photoshoot in a beach in Taiwan. Chen Xiao and I both love that atmosphere.”
